Well, i'd have some tugs for a start. Then it would leave Hamburg say, then sail to Rotterdam :)

I'll have to think about the missions, but that will not be the boggest problem. First some good tugs to manouvre her. :D
I say YES, bring her in the game! ;D

First of all I have to say that I would like to see any new ship of this quality in SS08 (... my compliment to goax75)  :). The Berge Stahl of course is very impressive so it would be really nice to have it in the sim. Just as my previous posters wrote, I can imagine some tug missions, too, but also navigating in bad weather (maybe in a field of icebergs) as well as some incidents could be a challenge.

Yes, absolutely!

Personally I really like the large ships as these, in my opinion, are the most difficult to maneuver.

They also give me less grief, do to the fact that my graphics card is not quite up to date when using Ship Simulator. But then that is not the issue here.

Sailing the Berge Stahl into Rotterdam and out again is the most realistic and logical scenario. After all, that is what she was build for; sailing between Brazil and The Netherlands with iron ore, if I remember correctly.

Greetings,
Please, comments are very welcome on this topic.Even if you dont like this big vessel to.Than we know whats living among us(members).
This is how i see this vessel in the game.
You start in the Bay of San francisco, heading for New york,so you have to pass the ocean area,in New york you have to do some repaires on the vessel, before you can continue for Port of Rotterdam, where your vessel will be assist by some tugs to dock this on the right mooring.
This will be only possible, when the online modus is working i know, and it will be a long distance mission.
However,i think this has value for the game.

Of course I'd love to see this in-game, like all of goax75's work it's brilliant. Whether or not it could or should be imported in all its splendid detail (and what that would mean for system requirements) is another matter.

The internet tells us only two ports can handle her fully loaded, Terminal Marítimo de Ponta da Madeira in Brazil and Europoort, Rotterdam - she only sails between these two. So realistic missions would mainly revolve to her arriving/departing Rotterdam. This requires two things - (1) channels and berths of adequate depth (23m) and (2) functional tug boats. There's currently some doubt around both of these.

It would be a nice addition to the game, all though I believe a Panmax or handysize would be better for gameplay, since there are alot more options for missions. If you choose to put Berge Stahl or any other large cargo ship in the sim, please consider giving it a more realistic engine control.

I have been participating with the pilot during berth this great vessel in Vitoria, we got 5 Tugs, 2x60t bollard pull 3x45tons bollard pull tugs.

Definitely! Why waste such a great project!

My mission ideas would be long ocean voyages between harbours transfering coal, or dry goods, with tugs to take you into the harbour for berthing.

Warning: This could be a problem on my computer (ya know pic. distortion)

The real Berge is about twice as wide as the model depicted here (sorry)

If you could get back to me with a measurement of the ship beam (width) I would like to know what you have modeled it at. :)

The correct beam of the Berge is 208.3 feet (65m)

Also I would love to know what program you modeled her in please

Well, i would like it in the game.
It's a huge vessel to handle, and can be used for tugoperations, also the design and making are of the best quality. The idea is to get more different vessels,in the future.Small and Big.
If you're a fan of Shipsim, well make your computer stronger than the minimum standards for running the game.
This can prevent you from slow running, and other problems that can happen.
My next purchasing thing i want is more memory, now i'm running on 2.00Gb,but i want 4.00Gb
Than a extra videocard, for running on 3 screens, now i'm allready can run it on 2 screens.
The luck i have is that i still have a old computer,i mean i size,so i can put alot more in it(very much space left).
I even deleted FS,and al other sims that i had.

A little problem......Berge Stahl can only fit in Rotterdam and a brazilian port that isn't on ShipSim. So we can ony put it in the ocean servers and Rotterdam ;D

Greetings,
Now,with the game growning and more to come(maybe) in the future,i think "Berge Stahl"will fit perfectly in the game. The same with the big tanker Vstep have made.
So we get a variation of different vessels, which is realy good in my point of view.
Also why let a project of this quality go?
It's made by very high standards, which can be compaired with the Vstep standards.
It is also build under the name of NVDG,goax75 joined us from the very start. Its also one project who has reached the end.Other vessels have been started, however never finished, which is realy bad.
NVDG,is not only making vessels,it's a group of volunteers with the same idea, different people from around the world, working together.
I hope this vessel gets in someday, atleast to see if it would work, how many people would sail her.
Regards
Marc
P.S.Sorry i'm a "Berge Stahl"fan,i can't help it.

I guess this ship will be stripped as much as the new push boat that arrives with New Horizon? One thing is to see beautiful hyper-realistic renderings and another thing is to see what it ends up like in the game.
But I know the reason why - performance performance and again performance. Not that ShipSim 2008 hurts my 8800 Ultra. Maybe it would if the push boat was as much detailed as shown on the renderings :D
