Screen resolution problem on windows 8 for SSE

I have just gotten a new computer due to the sad death of my former one, it has windows 8, i have been having a problem with the resolution, and before you ask, yes I played around with the screen resolutions, the correct resolution for this particular computer is 1920 x 1080 but when I am on that it has the bottom part of the screen cut off with the options to quit and play. How do I fix this

open the "ShipSimExtremes Userdata" inside of the My documents,
find EngineSettings and open it (as txt.), (don't forget backup the file)
replace them with the old ones:


<ResolutionX>1920.00</ResolutionX>
<ResolutionY>1080.00</ResolutionY>
