SSE or European Ship Simulator? Also, what Forum?
« on: February 06, 2015, 23:11:07 »

I'm just now getting into Ship Simulators.
Which one do I buy? SSE or ESS?
I played the Demo of SSE and liked it, but ESS seems to be a lot newer and more fun?
Which one should I go for??
Also, is this forum active or is there some other active Ship Simulation forum?

Well, SSE has more ships, sceneries, missions, etc. ESS is newer but according to some videos I've watched, it doesn't have many ships, missions and sceneries. However its graphics are satisfactory. YOU are the only one who can decide which game you will play... Watch some videos on youtube with both games and then decide.

ESS is still in development. One thing to consider is if you would like to have Multiplayer.
As yet it is uncertain if or when it will be in ESS.. ;)

If you are after a more realistic sim sse is the one to go for. There are a lot of people who use SSE who are also involved with the sea and the community and multiplayer are (usually) realistic.
ESS seems to be communal and doesn't look as realistic!

How does one go about finding repaints for the ferries?

Is Multiplayer also a thing on SSE Steam?

I did, still couldn't decide. ^^
It's like: SSE has more ships, BUT ESS has more realistic bridges. (I hope that's the right name for Navigation Rooms/Ship Cockpits... I'm new here, don't judge.^^)

It's up to you to decide what you prefer, if you prefer realistic bridges as you mentioned, then ESS is the game for you. Just remember that it is still a game in development so when it comes to bugs and lags you will possibly find that in the game as well.

Does the number of extra ships in SSE outweigh the more realistic bridges in ESS or vica versa? Personally I would go for the extra ships, but that's just me!  ;)

I echo the comments about the game being still in development.

ESS is SSE written backwards. If I were you, I should wait with buying ESS until that game has been further developed and bugs have been fixed.

Bought ESS.
Liked it. (Awesome Bridges+, great Graphics+, ton of lag-, bugs-, etc. etc.)
Then I went ahead and bought SEE.
It's awesome. (Tons of ships+, no bugs so far+, only coplaint are some of the physics.)

Thanks for the help everyone!

You bought both? Hmm I guess that's another way of solving it if you don't know how to decide

Yup.
SSE can only be played by non-OCD, ex-FSX players.
Since I need realism I will be spending a lot more time in ESS once the Mission Editor releases. (Which is Tomorrow)
