Can this desktop handle SS08 or Extremes
« on: October 13, 2013, 21:47:20 »

I attached the dxdiag for the desktop, could it cope with any of these games? Thanks in advance.

I suspect the graphics card in that machine is not up to the standard required for either game. Everything else looks good apart from that. You might possibly be able to play SS2008 on the machine but I am not at all sure.

As Angus said, it is your graphics card that lets you down. I think that it is an onboard chipset and it scores very low on the 3DMark bench test, (1160 when the minimum needs to be 6000 for SSE), I'm not even sure it would run SS2008.

I can't recommend any graphics cards because I don't know what slots you have on your motherboard. In your DXdiag it should give the details of the system but on yours it doesn't. This is all it shows.

System Manufacturer: System manufacturer
       System Model: System Product Name

This is the type of information it should show.

System Manufacturer: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.
       System Model: X58-USB3

Sorry that I can't be of more help.

Sorry it has taken so long to reply but I've been away for a few days.

Your board is certainly capable of running most modern graphics cards on sale now, it has 1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 slot which means any Nvidia or Radeon cards. If you buy a Radeon card, (which are cheaper but not as fast as Nvidia cards), then you can run it in Crossfire mode with the onboard graphic chip according to the write up although I wouldn't rely on that being the case. Crossfire lets the two graphics processors work together.
The only limitations are price and your computers power supply.

Hello guys well my birthday was yesterday so i planned to replaced my old Amd V140/Ati mobility radeon hd 4250 powered laptop with a new laptop with these specs:

Intel Core i3-3120M 2.5 GHz (3rd generation) Dual Core Processor
Intel HD 4000 Graphics
6GB DDR3 RAM and 750GB (5400rpm) hard drive

By chance could anyone tell me if this would still run 08 or Extremes especially under windows 8? Thanks in advance. BTW, i'm aware HD 4000 is a integrated gpu so it may not handle any on highest settings but i'm still curious to know if it would run with reduced settings.
