An odd effect, land looking like water.
« on: September 10, 2013, 17:51:10 »

I wonder if any other players have this effect showing? In the New York environment part of the land of Governors Island shows as if it were water. See picture.

Hi Salty
Oh dear, Where you have grass showing I have water. I have only just recently noticed this effect but I have no idea why this should be so. :-\  To be honest it does NOT affect the game play but just seems rather odd. ??? I have no problem like this in SSE, just with SS2008. I have tried adjusting settings but this makes no difference, it is as if somebody stole my grass. ::)

Just to be sure, I tried to replicate your picture as much as possible. With the same result as my first picture.
It's strange..

Hi Salty,
That is exactly the place! If you wonder why the controls are different from yours it is because I changed them. :-X  I think I will try to uninstall the game I have, which is the Collectors Edition, and re-install using the basic game & New Horizons to see if this is still present. It keeps me out of trouble, (I hope) and is always interesting to find things out.

Regards,
Angus.

Sounds like a plan, Angus.  I have the seperate SS08 and New Horizons editions, maybe that's it.
I hope it works.. :)
(and yes, I was wondering about those controls  ;) )

Hi Salty,
Unfortunately loading the basic game plus New Horizons makes no difference at all. I am at a complete loss as to what could be the cause of the problem. :-\

Sorry to hear it, Angus.  It's a mystery.
But I suppose if that is the only place where it happens, it's not so bad   :)

Noticed the phenomena in more than one area of new york harbor, but does not seem to affect gameplay so I ignored it. Running a GeForce card on an Intel i7 laptop 8 GB RAM with graphics maxed.

Hi petecaler,
I have also noticed it in the San Francisco environment. Brickyard Cove to be more precise, but as you rightly point out, it doesn't affect the playing of the game in any way, so best to just ignore it.

Hi Angus,

I've had the same thing happen to me a few times in the past on the laptop, but never on the main computer back home. I can only assume that it comes down to hardware!

Hi Jack,
I can only assume that it has something to do with my computer as you suggest. I have a pretty powerful set up now but the only thing I can think is that it has something to do with my Nvidia GTX660 graphics card. However, as already mentioned, it does not affect game play in any way.
