Latitude into Marseille
« on: June 14, 2013, 15:08:39 »

Hi,
I read a post somewhere on the forum that the `Latitude` was the only ship which could not be berthed in Marseille. Can`t remember who posted, and can`t find it again, but I wondered why ?  I decided to find out for myself.  It was a slow job and required some patience, but see pic`s. [berthed most awkward corner of main basin]  I played this in `free roaming` where of course I had NO TUGS to assist.

Sorry, pic`s don`t seem to have worked.  I`ll have to figure out how to transfer them properly. [ Not too knowledgeable about the technicalities of computer working I`m afraid. The standard version of the Latitude can enter Marseille via the northwest gate and dock at both sides of Mole.

With the Latitude in ballast condition, it's also possible to enter Marseille via the southeast gate.

I made a movie once of the latter!

Hello Ballast,  Just watched your video. Good one smoothly done. But it is so much quicker and easier when one has tugs available isn`t it ?

No Michael,
You didn`t miss anything.  I think you are just confused at `Ballast`talking about ship ballast whilst his own game name is `Ballast`.    In the UK, we`d probably say "That sounds a bit like `double Dutch` to me"
Hahaha.  Hope you understand the joke Michael, no offence intended.

The answer to your question is simply "With patience".

Cheers !

The proper term would be "reduced draft"  Both Vermaas as Latitude were so developed as an add-on by Terry Russel at the time I beleive. They are no longer available as far as I know..

By the way Trampship Man, very nice handling of Latitude. It must have taken much care and patience..
(I assume you had the ships damage turned off ;) )

ps: to add pictures from the game: click on Additional Options in your post, click on Browse.
Go to ShipSim 2008 User Data - Pictures. Double-click on your selected picture and then on post..

Hi,
In regard to the "Latitude" with reduced draft (In ballast is the technical term) and also "Vermaas" in the same state. If you go to the Ship Simulator website, "Shipyard", Ship Simulator 2008, and download the FREE super packs:- VLCC Latitude Super Pack & Xmas Triple Super Pack, you will have both ships in this condition. I recommend that you save the downloads in your "Documents" folder.( Or just make certain not to delete them from your "Downloads" folder.) Then it is possible to go back into the packs and restore to the original draft conditions if you so require. If you download all the Super Packs they also open up a large number of missions (136 to be precise) to play! :2thumbs:

Thanks Saltydog for your info re` posting pic`s. Much obliged to you once again.
Honestly I was not aware that one could turn off `damage`, so NO it was certainly not turned off !   I wouldn`t
have considered it worth posting if I`d cheated.

Quite simply, its pretty easy if one is patient.
