Scenario crash
« on: June 27, 2012, 16:01:24 »

I have just purchased the new SS extremes by download for e29.99. On the first scenario I attempted (New York to Rotterdam), I find it to be unplayable because after reaching the waypoint where the scenario switches back to the pilot boat, when you see the pilot boat, it is sinking into a "hole" in the sea, the message appears "your vessel is sinking" and the scenario fails. I have reloaded it several times and the result is the same EVERY time.
Suffice to say that I am not impressed with this sim and it suggests to me that I have wasted my money, since that kind of thing is symptomatic of gash software and nothing to do with the computer. I intend to try some other scenarios and if any of these also fail in this way then it will be consigned to the bin with suitable reviews posted to all the forums I can find.  I have to say also that I was warned by several people that the Ship Sim was not to the Flight sim X standard. That is certainly true.

You tell us that your problem is nothing to do with your computer. ??? Having said that you give no details of the computer, (DxDiag) so how can we tell what the problem is? It is quite pointless to compare SSE with Flight simulators as this is not a valid comparison. Surprisingly enough many players, including myself, can play the game remarkably well. That being the case it does seem to make little sense of your complaint. ::) I think that possibly your machine is not up to playing SSE, but of course, how can we tell if that is, or is not the case. Have you got the Collectors Edition or merely the basic game? Have you updated your game to the latest level? Have you purchased all the CCC ships, have you loaded the FREE pilots add on? Etc, Etc, Etc. If you were to be more specific in your rather unpleasant complaint it is possible that somebody might offer a helping hand.

I apologise, I see from the price you paid you have the Collectors Edition so then all the updates are there in your game, this further suggests that your computer is not up to playing the game, I'm sorry to say. Feel free to get back and throw abuse at me, I have a thick skin.

The computer is P4 3.4 Ghz HP Pavilion with 64 bit system, win 7, 8 Gb of RAM, Nvidia GT 545 graphics card running at 1.4 Ghz with 8Gb memory.
If this machine is not high enough spec then what is?
Having just tried the tourist scenario and found that when you arrive at the cruise ship, it is leaning over to starboard, and aground while still moored up, I seriously think there is something adrift with this simulator.
The computer runs all manner of other software without problems, I find it hard to believe that it cannot run SSE.

Hi
It is obvious that you have a good comp have you read the tech support
this could be caused by a program you have running in back ground.
Extremes doe's have its problems but most members run the game with very little
problems and enjoy it.

Hi icongeo99,
Did you find an answer to this problem? You are not alone. I keep trying various things. I noticed that the Pilot boat remained stable until I started to move Winner. I'm about to try moving Winner astern before leaving berth, trying to keep well clear of Apollo, which seems to think it has been struck by Winner. I have had sinkings in mid ocean for no reason with other missions so I have to agree with you, there does seem to be something a bit fragile in the program. As I said in another thread, my half a million ton container ship sank after being struck on the wave piercer by a RIB pilot boat, which amazingly stayed operational!
Will report any progress.
