uploading pictures in a powerpoint

Hey guys
I been asked bt the school to do the tecnical side of the year 11 leavers show and that they decided to do some sort of fashion show (yes, fashion show and most of them are boys... im getting a tinny bit worried also  ) but i have been asked to make the powerpoint and to controll it. why is this nessossery?
I want to take pictures on a camra wile this is happening (on a trypod probbily) and while the powerpoint going i want the pictures to be on the next slide. i can connect the camra and when i take a picture it upload into the next slide where i want it to. i may have 2 camreas to do both sides.
it will be fed into my laptop (PC) which will then beam it onto a projector.
is this possible and how (what software will it be [needs to work on office 2007/2010] and i want it to be free)
if you know how can you please let me know asi goto start sorting it out soon

well just to add a picture you can simply go to insert>image>from files.

but for adding a picture as a full-screen background, right click the slide, then go to preferences>background>insert image>from files.

but i haven't made a powerpoint in a while, so i'm kinda rusty.
