i have just recieved the game and installed it no probs but it is incredibly slow i think its running on version 1.4 or what ever the latest 1 is?

i have a Quad core AMD Phenom processors
4 gb ram
nvidea 9600GT graphics which i think is 1 GB

and i can only just run it on medium setting and every now and then i load a ship and it crashes
is my computer to old to run this or is it just a game thing??

Its might be your graphics card. Here is the graphics card benchmark ratings and as you can see, your card is way down at 110.  http://community.futuremark.com/hardware/gpu-list/

However some people have played okay with a slower card, so it may be down to things such as the amount of other processes running in the background.
