The Solent Environment Expansion - My models topic
« on: October 23, 2011, 18:10:56 »

OK, so here are updates to the models for a possible update to the Solent Environment

So today I have been working on the Southsea area, with the Round Tower and Square tower

General Overview:

The Round Tower:

Walkway And Square Tower with pier:

Close up of Round Tower and Pier:

Umm... Concrete part with chairs...*

*Yeah not sure if it has a name or not

So its coming along nicely, next will be the bridge that connects this bit to Clarence pier (Which also will be modelled to a point - I cannot model rollercoasters ) There is also a bit of impovement for the connection between the square tower and the seat area, once I can find a suitable pic

OK So lets do a fresh update for everything.

Since I started some areas have... grown slightly...

So firstly new map (Via Google Earth) [Original Map here]

Dockyard and PIP
Current Status: Under construction

OK this area has been merged from a couple of areas so includes the Ferry Terminal, freight area and the Dockyard. Currently it is still under construction

HMS Warrior
Current Status: Not Yet Started

OK this is a new bit, but there are two "piers" one which the Warrior is moored on and the other is used by harbour tours, thought this would be a welcome addition, but it is not a high priority

Gunwharf
Current Status: Not Yet Started

This area really needs improving from the current state, however it is tricky to do as it is already modelled with Spinnaker tower, just very inaccurate and misses essential items such as the Station with the Wightlink FastCat terminal and the Gosport Ferry Terminal

Hulk
Current Status: Just needs texturing

OK this part has been modelled and just needs texturing. It is used to lay up Wightlink Ferries

Southsea & Wightlink
Current Status: Under Construction

This includes the Wightlink car ferry terminal, round tower and square tower. In the current game model the entrance to Portsmouth Harbour is very sparse compared to real life. I have redone the Old Portsmouth sections as well to include the small fishing berths.

War Memorial
Current Status: Not Yet Started

This item is marked on the Charts, however nothing is there, when in reality the memorial is a tall tower which I have found out was designed and used for maritime navigation.

Haslar Marina and Harbour Entrance West
Current Status: Not Yet Started

Again the Harbour entrance doesn't look very realistic at the moment there is a fort like building on the western side of the entrance. Also there is a marina and area where bunkers moor that is currently not modelled.

Gosport Pontoon
Current Status: Just needs texturing

OK this part is also done, although it is a... nolstalgic model (ie it is the old pontoon). This pontoon narrows the channel and is used for ferries and tour trips

Gosport marina
Current Status: Work Started

Another marina not currently in game. Also has a small pier utilised by tankers

Bridge
Current Status: Not Yet Started

I belive this is the Milennium bridge, serves no real purpose but looks pretty

OK moving Away from Portsmouth, one other area I have covered was the Fishbourne Terminal this has been modelled, and just requires texturing
