odd one out
« on: July 30, 2011, 18:07:45 »

this game is simple enough to understand. the question involves 4 pictures of various ships. any type, any country. 3 of them must have something in common. the next person must state which ship is the odd one out and why that is.

REMEMBER- each question has more than 1 possible anser so it is possible for lots of the ansers to be correct

here is the first question. ur 4 ships are
-scharnhorst
-bismarck
-deutschland
-admiral sheer

Scharnhorst the odd one out.The other three were known as pocket battleships, whereas Scharnhorst was a battleship or battlecruiser.

Or alternatively the Deutschland could be the odd one out,.. that is named after a country, where the others are named after militairy and political leaders. (a general, an admiral and a chancellor)

The Queen Elizabeth saw action in WWI, the others did not.

Hood was completed at the end of WWI but didnt go into service untill 1920, Tirpitz and Yamato were built later, respectively during and just before WWII.

So QE would be the odd one out I think.

I think it's the Queen Elizabeth, because she is the only one in the list which didn't got sunk.

Wasn't Tirpitz stuck with her superstructure on the seabed and her hull sticking out the water, capsized?

Technically that's not sinking, that's running aground upside down.  ;D

Then I think it's the Yamato, because it is the only non-European battleship.  ;)

Well if you want to, I bet you can find a reason for any of them to be the odd one out.. ;D

But the QE fought in WWI too.. and the other three all fought only in WWII.  That's still my guess. But there's more than one answer possible, obviously.

I think the odd one is Britannic, she never served as an Ocean Liner and Olympic, Mauretania and Lusitania did. Or the Lusitania is the odd one because it wasn't made a troop ship or hospital ship around the time it was sunk.

i think it's mauretania because the other ships there came later and were much larger.

Mauritania and Lusitania were sisterships. Lusitania came first of the 4, btw.

The Lusitania is the same size as the Mauretania (Sister Ships are normally the same size) and the Olympic and Lusitania came at around the same time or earlier than the others.

Lusitania was finished in 1906, Olympic was in 1911.  ::)

there were some very intresting points there. the anser i was thinking of was olympic as she was the only ship of the 4 to sink an enemy submarine during the war.

Wait a minute.... You just randomly select 4 ships without knowing an answer yourself?  :-\
