In SSE the hovercraft can only move on the surface of the water. In order for her to appear to move over land, it is necessary to raise the surface of the water under the land to be as close as possible to the surface of the land without breaking through and making the land—or ramp—disappear.
This unlovely kluge leads to a number of problems and makes it unlikely that other hovercraft may appear.

Oh...

Thats not good :/

Why was it changed though? the SS08 Hovercraft were fine as it was, and on one of the promo interview talks Frank says about hovercraft(s) being in game -  I know things said before a release game can never be taken for granted, but still :/

And Doesn't Nautis have more hovercraft anyway? I thought I saw a couple of Military variations... Do they have the same problems then?

*Yes I know Nautis is different and professional

SSE is very different from SS2008. One reason for the major change was an attempt to satisfy some demands by users of SS2008: Bigger waves, little people scurrying about the ships, etc.
That brings to mind the old saying: “Be careful what you ask for…”

SRN4 how old are you? are you able do something for me, can you remove all the exclamation marks in your "Subject" section of your topic. Adding exclamation marks will not make a difference to the problem here in ShipSim forum.

Shame - I never even wanted "bigger waves" :(

Is there no way to modify the hovercraft to fix this? :/

I just wanted the ocean to look real but no bigger waves, see how un-realisic the ocean looks http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zqdblonl988 compared to the ocean here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1hUqt2acbm8&feature=related. But the but the nutters from who ever made the ship sim 08 video somehow managed to get their point across  ::) :o

Go to the very first post, click on Modify, then you can  'modify subject'..
You may also want to change the caps letters, it's considered as shouting ..

Cheers for that, don't worry someone will give you a sign of life, there are a fair amount of problems reported but they are all looked at and most of the times resolved

So the Freedom 90 sails over the water, the land sits on the water.
Higher waves mean higher land, so the hovercraft gets stranded..
It's a conundrum..

I fear we're doomed to a non-amphibious hovercraft forever...

*Or at least until the next ShipSim comes out...

Shame... :(

Not really, only in MP would the option of high waves be necessary..
In Free Roam or Missions the height of the waves could be adjusted to the type of ship you choose..
So if you choose a hovercraft, the wave-height (land height) could perhaps be limited accordingly..  :)

Hmmm, so you guy's tried it at Dover with the sandy beach? If you guy's wanna get absolutely big waves what I did is I went into mission edditor, opened up the wave control thing. Then I closed the editor but not the wave control thing. Went into free roam, chose an eviromoment, ship and just went ahead. Then I used the wave control thing to make the waves extremely high. But what I noticed is when the hovercraft hits a big wave it just stops it dosen't smash through it and shoots out spray

I don't think I can trust VSTEP with another ship simulator, because of all the situations currently in SSE and it clearly indicates that they rushed. This feels like a war zone.Microsoft did a splendid job with their fligh sims, and train sims, then Railworks took over and created rail sim then rail works and rail works 2 the latest in train simulations. But when it comes to ship simulation, it's a long way away.

Hovercrafts are not really meant to sail in heavy seas, wave heights of aprox. 2 m is about max.

Freedom 90 has a maximum wave height of 2.4m

http://www.hovercraft-museum.org/ap1-88.html

The SRN4 Mk III could do up to 8ft (Also 2,4m) waves, though with a slower speed

When i went to the hover museum i was talking to the old pilot of the SR-N4's and he said that they could do any weather conditions but the passengers wouldn't enjoy it that much so they had that 2.4m limit
