I downloaded the beta version of the patch so do I have to download the official one? Or will the one I have be exactly the same?

Hi Bowie!

You have to download the final release or else the online system won't work. You can get the final release of the v1.1 update and the Mission Editor here:
http://www.shipsim.com/downloads/patches.php
