Amazing Simulations wants my help?
« on: April 22, 2011, 12:08:49 »

iv just got a email from Ship sim saying they are currently working on updates and then they are asking me if i download this thing and try it for us so how the ships are in the water surrounding the ship is this Spam or what cause i am not opening the link

this is what its called NEW SIMULATOR IN DEVELOPMENT. CAN YOU HELP?‏

some info from its paragraph  We need your help!

We are currently developing a new simulator for Super Ships. It is being designed so that it does not require high-spec PCs, and so that it introduces a whole new range of challenges, such as fuel consumption, bunkering, crew rostering, ballasting, vessel trimming and so on.

It also says at the  bottom
Please download the test programs and let us know what you think.

Thanks!

You can download the simulation from Amazing Forum at
------------link------------------

Has anybody else got this cause i have never had this before with Ship sim

Title changed so that there is no confusion. Please be more careful and read what is actually said in your Email

Hi Eric, are you sure it's ok ?  Why would rjwhyte be contacted..?
Any other mods have thoughts on this ?  Sounds to me like Terry is trying to get his foot in the door..

Well, It is Terry's new forum,it is safe to open news from him and his development for some new shipsim.
He left because of some(lett me call it a)misunderstanding, than he wrote himself out of this forum, however he returned under another name.
I think he's working very hard to create his own shipsimulator, with a complete other approach than Vstep.
It is very good to have more developers on the market to.See what the future will bring us.
Regards
Marc

So the game is by VStep, and he is free to improve on it..

How does all this fit in the game ?  Will there be a VStep Shipsim and a Terry Shipsim ?
Or will any future improvements be implemented in the game..?

IF some of the videos and graphics are to be believed then it is possible that some of us- myself included- might just have under estimated him.

He seems to be making some interesting progress and thinking about what he does from point 1.

He makes some very valid points about how shipsim is making certain mistakes commercially. No1 in my opinion is the total re-design every 2 years or so. No2 is the stagnant nature of the 'sim'. No3 is the limited features (ie navigation).

That said, SS08 is still a good sim and has been a pioneer but I really think vstep need to listen more to customers and develop their business model a bit more otherwise...

it will not be like shipsim extremes at all and have nothing to do with it, totally different, name are Amazing Simulator, so the topic text are wrong , and nothing from Amazing Simulator will  be implemented in the ship simulator, do not comper SSE and Amazing Simulator

What WILL it be like then, Tore?

It seems like a professional version of VS.

If Terry can do all that he's planning, then it should take the gold position of boating sims.

Like I said, SD 'IF'. But he seems to be making progress on dynamic objects and collisions between them.

Personally (and I am not a computer engineer or ship designer) but I think the model system on SS is far too complex for the game that it is.

For example, you can't add in your own ship- why not? Because it's MADE far too complicated. I was told "No" to adding in PoBi ferry as it would take ABC work- yet the dynamics could have been imported from PoR. Yet to ME and any others who do not routinely command large superferries, I would not know the difference in the handling. Yet I was told no it is not possible.

It's far to cumbersome and rather than release SSE vstep would have been FAR better, imo, in making SS08 more user friendly. Remember the vessels that are now lost (hovercraft for example).

Dr T has already said that it's his aim to make it easy to install add ons (and he's specifically mentioned Portsmouth - Bilbao)...

Just remember that it's only a couple of modern "hello world" type programmes at the moment, so don't go expecting a nearly finished sim.

Personally after looking at it in more detail I can see where Terry is coming from on it. Like building a house- he's making sure the foundations will support the walls and roof before he starts laying the concrete.

Foundations may not look pretty, but they are essential if the task is to work.

I say good luck to him.
