i have done all that is listed below but no joy

1 – If you do not already have a download manager installed on your machine may we suggest the freeware, Free Download Manager, install it with the default options : http://dl.metaboli.com/dl/freedownloadmanager.exe.
2 – Create a folder with the name of your game on your desktop or somewhere with enough disk space.
3 – Launch Free Download Manager and click on the “+” button in the top left. Copy the link of the File 1 below and paste it in the URL box in the ‘add download’ window that opened.
4 – In the “Save to Folder” box choose the folder that you created in step 2. Click on OK to start the download, once the download has finished repeat steps 3 and 4 for all the files to download etc...
5 – When you have downloaded all your files, double click on the .exe file to start the installation.

Download and Install Silent Hunter ®5 : Battle of the Atlantic :

Here are the game’s files to be downloaded:

File no.1
File no.2
File no.3
File no.4

To avoid frauds, you can download these files for a maximum of 6 times. If you need new download attempts, please contact our customer support serviceclient@gamesplanet.com with your order number and the email address used for the purchase. Note that you can save the downloaded files, even burn them to a CD or DVD.

You will find below the various keys that you will have to use after activating your game.
(Please refer to the install guide given at the start of this email in order to know when to use each key).

I second that, and also would like to add, that they have their own customer service at gamesplanet, which is mentioned in your own post even, onllshan.  :)

They can help you directly, no one here really can. I'd suggest trying them, I'm sure they'll get you sorted!!

kind regards,
Fred

Try translating using Google Translate; it might not do all words properly but should give you the general idea of what they're saying:

Is there any demo version of Silent Hunter 5?

I think SH5 is the worst one of the series. The controls are just very hard and confusing for me.  :-\
Also there are a lot of bugs in that game and you need permanent internet connection to play the game, so I don't think there's a demo.

SH3 is to my opinion the best one.

You shouldn't make a decision like that based on one opinion. I'd say SH5 is an amazing game after all the great mods became available.

Just look at this, that's what I call a realistic looking environment!
Ubisoft also dropped the always online nonsense, now you only log on to activate the game.

Where did you get that image? Was it from a screengrab or a publicity artwork from Ubisoft?

Frankly I'm a little suspicious - remember what happened when SSE previews came out before the game was released and everyone got really excited about the image quality. It was a different story when the game was released and everyone got really unhappy.....

A screenshot, from the pic & video thread on the subsim.com forums. And my game looks the same, no fps problems at all.

The water doesn't look that good in the stock game, it's the result of one of many great mods created by the community, free downloads.

I wish VSTEP could do as Ubisoft did, allow players to modify the game to make it even better. There are certainly a lot of smart heads out there..

Hmm, I might give SH5 a go (when it comes out), just to see what it looks like on my PC and play some nautical game.

I think I may have downloaded a demo version of SH many years ago, but was put off by having to remember too many commands/controls. Has that stayed the same or have they improved it?

I also bought Battlestations Midway but found it a bit too much trying to control everything at the same time.
