[request] Inport Google Earth 3D map data
« on: September 15, 2007, 14:44:54 »

IN next SS ,I hope that SS can Inport  "Google Earth" 3D map data.

Now,Google Earth 3D building is so poor to see in any port.
but it may be level-up by worldwide SketchUp users, includ SS users.
and, Island or mountain is verry real and very exact scape now.

Then, we can get every map on the Earth ,and we can go every where
on the Earth, every sea or river or lake .

In some Port,it may be need to overrap by detail SS 3d data object .
but ,Port buildings may be add-on by "SketchUp" software system
and Google Earth worldwide service.

This inport system may be hi-cost.and hard to connect  "Google Earth"
But, VSTEP easy use every landscape in the world.

Is this good Idea, or not?

Hi mikazuki! :)

The idea itself is excellent but I think it would be too huge a thing to implement. It will take several years of development before such an idea will become reality, and right now I don't think it's relevant for SS.

Maybe in SS2014?  ;) :D

Oh thanks.!!

so, we wait for the day we start world-wide cruise by the sellected ships.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
I guess that google plan to develop sight seeing SIM software ,by using
Google Earth 3D Map data. They develop drive Tour, flight sim, so next
step may be sea cruise, near Port or Island etc. Google have great power
to develop such net + 3D software. It may be freeware ,so I afred that
SS lost some user by Google sea cruise freeware. In flight sim, 2 type
airplane control suplyed. In sea, they can reach ship move control soon.

So, I hope that VSTEP  develop more faster than Google sea cruise.
(AHhh  , Its only joke.)

Not a bad idea mikazuki, I too have wondered what it would be like to have ShipSimulator and Google Earth together. Allready Google Earth is in 3D without any extra load on your computer (have you allready tried the "flight-simulator" in GE? (You can activate it with Ctrl-Alt-A) It looks great. I hope boats can roam the world sooner than expected :)

Hello !!

Yes, I try Google Flight Sim.
Buildings are verry poor,now.
Almost buildings are only white box.
I hope that some window texture set automaticaly on it.
And, 3D jetplane object shall put front of camera.

It's beta now, so I wait for true version flight sim.

Hello !!

Of course I can make buildings for Google Earth.
But, I want to make new ships for VSTEP subscription service.
So, I try to make new water bus ship 3-D model now.
Please look it, and please comment me.

I've seen some sort of F16 flight simulator with a real cockpit and all round screen for professional training. They used google earth for the environment.

Great !!
So, some Ship Simulator (for pro ?) may be use Google Earth 3D Map, soon.
I think that, Flight Sim and Ship Sim are same type software.
They move camera in 3D object world. Movement controlled by thrust force
and Hydrodynamics, plus some sub force(wind, wave, etc).
It may be easy to change basic Movement methods, to Ship Sim.

But you should word on it further, I wonder what the inside will look like..
