City lights?
« on: September 15, 2007, 11:38:22 »

Hi,

Just wondering if it is just me, or are there no city lights when sailing in Rotterdam?

It is dark like hell   ???

Hi NiElS,

your are absolutely correct! There are no lights at all. At the very beginning of the SS08 development only a very few ships should have position lights. Than all vessels (incl. AI) got lights, but it's a long way to illuminate all the environments.. :-\

Cheers

OK, I know this is possibly straying off topic a little, but how come there are only English and German forums?

I suppose an Irish forum is out of the question? :D

Haha, probably  :P

But I do think that perhaps there could be a French or Spanish forum.

But it would be nice to have city lights. What about light houses? They are important to keep us from running into the boulders on shore in the fog  :D
Maybe it will be added eventually alongside more extensive ship lighting?  ;D

I beg your pardon? I have no problems with german mods on the english part of the forums.
But are you trying to get into a discussion with me?  ???

@ Hudizzle:

Yes, i understand city lights is a big thing to perform, but a lighthouse should be nice too.
Also the function to turn on and off the lights of your vessel should also be a nice thing.

On the subject of lights, correctly coloured lights on the buoys would be nice, flashing in the correct sequence would be even better.

I don't think Bottman took any offense as I'm sure he saw your smiley to indicate your joking post.

Agree!!!

There is a lot to do all around the lights, we are just at the beginning. We need darker bridges/wheelhouses with illuminated instruments and controls, bouys with light, lighthouses at the shores or at sea (maybe light vessels too), illuminated windows esp. at the passenger vessels and at all superstructures...

Sounds like SS10 or later   ;)

Sounds difficult.  :-\
I think this is because they're working with a difficult program maybe.

I never sail in harbors when it's dark. Because i see absolutely nothing...

Well, I tried taking the PoR into Portsmouth (yes, I know you can only get so far before grounding) and as I have been into Portsmouth when there was a power cut, I thought it did look like right). Though if night time was fully simulated the spinnaker tower would be amazing.
