Backing up user data
« on: February 16, 2011, 09:23:05 »

Hi everyone,

When I play some missions in Shipsim20008 I know that you could see some people you need to rescue/taxi around. Well, I can rescue them and taxi them around but I don't see those people. So I'm thinking about reinstalling the game. Before I do that I want to know what the proper way is to backup my profile data. Is that simply to make a backup the ShipSim2008 UserData folder? Or is that not enough?

Thanks in advance.

Hi

take a copy of this folder C:\Users\you name\Documents\ShipSim2008 UserData and past it to a safe place  then you have a back up of you profile and missions you have

after that run this litle program C:\Program Files (x86)\Vstep\ShipSim2008\ unregister.exe
or if you have a 32 bits windows  C:\Program Files\Vstep\ShipSim2008\ unregister.exe

then un install the game

Thanks. It didn't worked though. I just don't see any passengers if I want to pick them up. This is pretty strange because I had them in an earlier installation. I have ShipSimulator Collectors Edition version 1.42 build 1038. Anyone  know how to solve this problem?

Yeah, I know. I had this too on an earlier installation but not anymore.. question; did you already had version 1.42 when you installed SS2008 CE or did you applied that patch manually?

Thanks for your efforts btw  :)

Did some other tests first and I don't think it is my hardware, nor drivers.
I had another version on my external HDD and installed that one (after I uninstalled SS2008CE) and it worked. This was the normal version with the 1.42 patch manually applied. I will install CE now again and try some more things..

FIXED IT!

What I did:
1 Used Ccleaner to clean my register of all Vstep registers.
2 Installed SS2008CE
3 activated the game with all my serials
(It still didn't worked after this)
4 exited the game and ran the V1.0-v1.4.2 patch (The game was already V1.4.2 but I just ran the patch again)

Then I started the game again and it worked. I didn't touched the graphics tap at all (only to set the correct screen resolution but nothing more).

Thanks for your time and help! :)
