Found my first ship
« on: September 14, 2007, 23:15:53 »

Searching the net when i came across the first ship i sailed on as a cadet with Maersk, when i was on her she was the Maersk Stafford and you can still see the Maersk blue paint on the bow where the new red had been scrapped off, and for some reason she still carries the blue funnel. I see the new owners used a lot of imagination re-naming her  ;). She is a 14,000t lpg gas carrier and onboard her on my first trip which lasted around 6-7 months we travelled around the world twice. In this picture she must be discharging as she is sitting slightly low on the bow, to get all the gas into the pumps sump you had to ballast her heavy on the bow  :D , alot of good memories there, i thought she would have been sold the indians by now and scrapped.

ships used to be made of wood, and sailed by men of steel, now the ships are made of steel, and the men of wood.

Wow! thats a really nice LPG ship, what is its length? It looks really short... or is that just the angle?

My wife suggested getting photos of all my old ships and having them framed nicely for my birthday.

I can't think of anything worse than having to look at all of those old wrecks every day :D
