SSE Folder?
« on: December 12, 2010, 01:06:49 »

I was wondering, Is SSE similar SS08 when it comes to installing it and you would find a folder with the name Ship Simulator Extremes? I am unable to locate it's folder with all the data yet.... ???

Yes, anything that is installed, will have it's own space on your HD. Or else it wouldn't be installed.  :)

But it depends on where you install it to, or where say, Steam installs it too, in case it's done automatically, if you wanna find it later.

Just look at the properties of the launch executable, I reckon.. it should tell you the path.  (right click on the game shortcut and look at it's properties.)

It should say something like C:\Program Files (x86)\Vstep\ShipSimExtremes\SSE.exe   and then you know where to look. not that you need to do much to those folders anyway.

Fred

This is very weird, there is no VSTEP folder in any of the suggestions only steam, in C:\Program Files and another Steam in C:\Program Files (x86)\ and I have a 64 bit. This is a bit messed up

I did, I did so when I found it it was under programs, but the strange thing is when I checked the destination first it came up wit the "web document" screen then it said there URL : steam://rungameid/48800, so i went to general, there it had type of file internet shortcut, location was C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Steam

I am probably wrong, please correct me if I am, but there may not be folders on your computer..
You run the game over Steam, not from your hard-drive..

This can't be, I came with a conclusion here. Non steam users have folder with the whole Vstep/Ship Simulator 2010 and the whole data, but Steam Users don't have such thing when SSE is being installed through Steam. If this is true, I might be encountering some difficulties for the future

Gentlemen,

SSE cannot possibly run over the Internet. It must be installed somewhere on the local HD.
Search for the ShipSimExtremes folder, or for QuestViewer.exe. There will be more than one of the latter if SS08 or SS06 is also installed.

Marty

Does this mean that Steam users have folders..?  If so, Third Mate has already searched for them extensively..

Unless his computer uses Mason Jars instead of folders to hold files, yes SSE has to be in folders.

The folder tree should look something like this:
C: > Program Files(x86) > Steam > steamapps > common > ShipSimExtremes

It would be the craziest thing ever  :o, Steam installs SSE and stores the files online, when you play it Steam is the one that only knows where to find them, sorry just loosing my mind here. Right now Im sitting in front of me with Steam again and with the option "Install Ship Simulator 2010". As I remember from last time It created some sort of shortcut which was the url, but Ill give her another look. This is like trying to find your way out of a corn maze  :-X
