The word POSH and its nautical connection
« on: November 18, 2010, 07:09:13 »

Every city has its "posh" areas .... where the elite, the rich and the famous live.

And "posh" may have a nautical connection .....

posh
1918, of uncertain origin; no evidence for the common derivation from an acronym of Port Outward, Starboard Homeward,  supposedly the shipboard accommodations of wealthy British traveling to India on the P & O Lines (to keep their cabins out of the sun)
