I have seen my ranks improving as and when I complete a mission but I am curious to know what the "Special" rank is all about. Though I stand at a low 12/50 for the "Special", how did I earn this ?

Further, does one's rank get automatically updated in the Forum or is it only by involvement in Multiplayer missions ?

Hello vin_sun,
The ranks you have encircled only apply to SS 2008 not Extremes. I'm afraid I do not know what you get points in the "Special" field for. If you get to the "top of the tree" in SS 2008 your ranking symbols will look like mine. (Not that it means very much though )

Isn't Special doing the container loading mission, where you are the crane...?

Yep, quite right. It's for mission with the crane as a playable 'vessel' in it. 

That applies to the missions 'container loading' and 'leaving the new terminal'.

I am still a bit confused about the "Special" ranking in SS Extremes. If this ranking is related to container crane operations ........ where is the container crane in SS Extremes ? To the best of my knowledge, container crane operations were only in SS 2008.

That we are on this topic, how does one get a ranking in "Cargo" in SS Extremes ? The others are quite understandable (Greenpeace, Motorboat, Tourist, Tugs). Please see attached screenshot.

I would presume the cargo rank will be for using Jumbo Javlin/Mare Austral/Vermass
and Agile Solution in missions.
