What a pity
« on: October 14, 2010, 15:50:07 »

Once more VStep did it. They`ve put in our hands a prototype, and we are now the test pilotos. What exciting!
There is a question really intriguing about this:
VStep is an enterprise specialized on simulations for professionals. They have projects for "emergency services", Nautical Institutes, netherland railways. There fore, they have an experience and a high technological level. How are having they so many problems with this software?

Although the moderators in this forum make a "titanic effort" to convince to us the Ship Sim 2008; even the Extremes, and Ship Sim Professional are two different products (Developed by two different teams and different departments of VStep?), sorry but we can`t avoid the suspicion the raw of two products are the same: Graphics, ships, sceneries, handling interface... and we have an adaptation or reduced version.

Question: Could Vstep sell to us different features and performances created for ShipSim Pro v 2.0 as consecutive add-on,s to be integrated in our Ship Sim 2008 or Extremes?, at affordable prices, of course...

Nope, they ARE really three different products. Specifically SSE which is rebuilt from the ground up. Plus, you can't just 'transplant' things the way you put it there. They'd have to be purposely rebuilt too.

Contrary to anything else you might think it is.. it's just so. Treat that info as you like, but it won't change what it is.  :)

I reiterate my question. VStep is an enterprise highly qualified. They are working in the corporative market with products of thousands of euros of price. In that market you can`t release a product with failures, unfinished... or you are out of the market.
Why is VStep having so many problems with this software? Who are developing this software? Reading the name list of programmers of SSE only two or three belong the original team.

We are patient people. At last this is a game, of course. But I think VStep should give us an explanation. We want to support this project, but we`d like to know what is the perspective VStep has about it`s "creature". Where does VStep want to arrive with Ship Simulator? Why three differ programs; not versions, in five years? At least that`s VStep says or we understand.

With my best wish.

Keep in mind that some computers run the game with no problems at all, so those who struggle either have a system not powerful enough to run it properly or have something installed that causes conflicts with this game.

How powerful must the computer be to run this game with no problems at all? This computers must be far more powerful than what Vstep have said what the game requier.

Do you realy think that there are persons who have bought this gamed and have no bugs, no errors, nothing wrong in the game. And I suppose that they did not need the latest patch either, cause they have so powerful computers so there were no bugs in their game. And why did Vstep came out with a patch the same day the game was released? Was that cause Vstep knewed that almost everyone who bought the game will have not so powerful computers.

We are patient people.

Hola Tinchu,
I suggest you to do not use the SECOND person in your complains as long as you are not appointed to represent anybodyelse or somebodyelse from the forum :2thumbs:

I have no problems to run SS08 and SSE on my LAP TOP ;)
VSTEP did not force any of us (ME) to buy the SSE they just put the game in the market and offer to everybody, then everyone had a chance to make its choice... Another point is that VSTEP had already fixed some bugs with the last patch, so it's evidencing an official and pos-sale support, also theres the MODERATORS whom are giving all possible support to questions and or ideas made through messages.

finally is important to bear in mind that the game is running with many other users, as you can see by their comments into this forum.

Tinchu, ;)

Just read my article  (http://www.skipssimulator.net/en/sse-in-a-nut-shield/), because several of us already know what taste the nut have, and how it will taste next time (end of metaphor) ;)

There are quite a lot of "us",

not beeing able to enjoy the SSE because of all the bugs still not corrected, waiting patiently for the next update or patch or even upgrade... and I´m still sure it will come.. someday.

Just that we are not steadily complaining about our disappointment (and I speak for at least 3 Persons with the same attitude in my neighbourhood, so "us" is correct) doesn´t mean the game is behaving like it should.

When I read your posts defending vstep, I still keep forgetting how "rubbishly" SSE, or at least my version on my computer (a quite powerfull machine) works. After 3 Minutes I keep quitting and telling me,.. someday it will be fun to play like SS08 and SS06. You know, it´s not the money I spent on it wich makes me sad, it´s the dissappointment after having to wait so long, seeing all the perfect previews, making my own expectations and then...

So, please don´t forget all the calm and patiently waiting ones who just want to enjoy their game but still can´t. Who are hoping for an update everyday, reading all the entrys in the forum, hoping to find a clue for a fix... wich, thanks to the forum, already fixed some problems.. :-\

thanks,
Holger

I find it quite bizarre if some people are genuinely honestly playing the game without finding any serious bugs whatsoever. To simply assume the problems are caused by underpowered PCs is naive at best. My PC runs the game pretty smoothly with all the detail settings on maximum but I'm still having my experience of the game spoiled by the horrendous amount of bugs. You can criticise me for this, question the configuration of my PC or even make excuses for Vstep but it doesn't change the fact that I've been reduced to wandering aimlessly about in free-play mode because all my saved missions have been corrupted by the latest patch.
I'm usually an optimist but I'm fast losing faith in this title.

Ok, Im sorry but Im the kind of person who needs to say something when I witness something I dont think is right. This post may get me banned or illicit some nasty response and hate mail, but it is what it is.

With the way two specific Admins/Mods have handled themselves in these forums- specifically with respect to their attitudes- is far less than anything I am prepared to tolerate from a Company Ive given my business to. When its said that certain people are ignored, suggested that if you dont like it- shut up and not to vent the frustrations in the forums, I really question the professionalism behind the staff regardless of weather they are paid or not to participate in these discussions.

I was looking forward to SSE for a long time. What a let down. The attitude Ive witnessed here from VStep reps- I assure you I will not be waiting for the next release--- if there is one. Directly addressing the Mods/Admins for others to see: Consider using some etiquite and professionalism in your responses to the PUBLIC forums. Keep doing what youre doing and you'll find the forums turn into a ghost town, not to mention possible losing many customers. But in reality, its your Company, not mine. I just wont be doing business with VStep again. What a pity indeed.

Well the atmosphere certainly isn't the best in here, and it looks like people are more or less abandoning these boards. The activity is pretty low, at least in the English forums. But I think the main reason is disappointment with SSE, and in my opinion it's wrong to attack the mods. They have been doing everything they can to help players, but I've noticed that a few of them really want us to know who they are...to put it that way. Perhaps it would be a good idea for them to adjust a little.

ScubaChris, when I'm saying no problems with the game I mean things like crashes, installation and fps issues. I've never had any of those. Bugs come with all games, and for me the worst ones in SSE were fixed by the patch.

 I agree with you, Subwolf.
If VesselMate is saying they post alot of non-helping posts, who said they couldn't have fun on this forum either  ??? In my opinion the mods have extremelly helpful lately. I would be posting a thank you topic, not a post saying that the mods aren't good  :-\

ScubaChris,
that very curious, as I had already posted before at somewhere my LAPTOP is running the SSE without problems.

I almost completed all mission....
Off course the SSE is not my priority in the dailly life as I shall work and go to the navy academy dailly :P

By the way,
I can observe that VSTEP is doing they part as working on the patch. It's an evidence of support.

Pls tell us one thing., Do you have the SS08? how it runs on your computer?

Best regards
