The port of curacao is one best harbours on planet.
Its mostly known for its deep and natural habour.
The port has its own pontoon bridge that opens or closes when a ship will leave or enter the port.
You also have the "Queen Juliana Bridge", Wich is 57 meters above sea lever..
If you are on the queen juliana bridge you have view from the whooole port

Curacao harbour also is veery deep...
In the entrace the depth 200 meters
And inside the depth in 100 meters..So if there  is an emergency that a cargo vessel has too enter..
It can enter fully loaded without hitting anything...
Ships  that are higher then 55 meters are unable too enter, the chance of the colliding with the bridge is then a posibility..

The port is has a container, oil and drydocks...
The cruise terminal is at the side of the port where the pontoon bridge is
But also on the outer side of the port is the mega pier, wich is meant for large cruise liners..

The port has 2 parts.
Punda & Otro banda..
Mostly when a cruise liner enters all tourist start recording because of the beautifull buildings at both sides of the port..
Why do we need this port?
SS doesnt have any caribbean ports.
 :o :o :o :-\

Because this a very beautifull port.
There is no other harbour like the curacao harbour.

Here are pics

Hello!

Port of Curacao is beautiful...

Also these is a nice port in the Caribbean sea. The port is visited by all kind of vessels what we use in Ship Simulator, as i can see, in the Curacao there is a huge tanker & cargo port, there are also a lot of tugs, because it is hard to manouver there, also there are 2 or 3 cruise ship and ferry points.

So that would be the ideal port for Ship Simulator, because we can use all kind of vessels in one envirorment.

Besides it looks, very, very nice and atractiv it is also an intersting port, it has an intersting entrance, a small chanel, in wich is really hard to manouver without tugs and assistenc, so that would be an great chnalenge to manuver with Latidue or Orient Star in a port like these. I'm asking myself by watching these pictures, how do these masive ships, pass trough that chanel into port? And how do they get out???

That MUST be intersting!! I would really like to see these, and i don't even need to mention, how intersting would be to try that in a simulator!

Curacao is also an nice city, it looks friendly and happy, i really like the envirorment and i would love to travel there...

That is the port what has all the charastcheristic to get in the Ship Simulator!

And i think these port needs to be THE FIRST TO ENTER ADD-ON!!

WHY?

These is the port called "all in one" in these port, we can use ferries for all kind destinations, we can sail a huge cruise ship on the "caribbean cruise", we can sail in with the masive tanker, or we can deliver a huge cargo packet.

The port is so intersting to sail, those chanels, and bridges... it is so nice... and it is an atractive turistic destination. Lot of peoples would love to see that port...

That port really interest me... Oceandream, that is you home port, can you tell us something more about the port, about the history, or about these nice bridges out there...

Thank you very much!

Many kind regards!
Captain. Mitch

Captain. Mitch

Well captain mitch i will tell you a little more about the port...

THis port is natural..
It has been there when curacao was formed by the outblow of an underwater volcano.
THis port has had this form with channels since 1743..
Its one the deepest ports in the World..
Scuba Divers in 2006 went too dive and reported outer channel is around 180 meters.
Accidents took place too...Short time ago in 2009 a aframax tanker collided with queen emma bridge due too winds above 30 MPH and the tugs tried too help but the ship collided anyway.
in 2007 the pontoon bridge was brought back from the dock after a 5 month repair
In light the port was soooo pretty with al those light on the rings.
But in 2009 they removed the lights.. :-\

My Question!
Is there any port in the world that has a pontoon bridge that can open or close when ships will enter or leave?
The Awnser is "NO"

This is one the best ports on the planet :2thumbs:

Ships that larger then 330 are in need of 4 too 6 tugs and 2 pilots too enter  :o
The tugs are very helpfull and do excellent work  :)
here they are
1. Jaro II

2. Lima 2

3. KTK Tribon

4. KTK Barakuda

5. The pilot boats

But when a mega ship has too enter because of drydock needs it will be a challange!
Here you will see when the largest 4 ships visited the port.. Mostly when a large ship will come here too curacao.
One day before arrival it will become notified in the news and newspaper.

1. THe largest ship in curacao 2000 "Mira Star" ULCC

2. The second Largest ship "VLCC Else Maersk"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-wq6rxKSyM

3. The third largest ship "VLBC Boca Grande"

4. And four, Last but not Least the Most Beautifull Elegant Luxury Famous Queen Mary 2
The last time when time in 2004 when the QM2 visited curacao it was notified in the Curacao News and Main Newspaper

The port aslo has 2 cruising mini ferries too cross from Punda too otrobanda. (the 2 sides of the port)

ANd yes Now for more tourist atractions shops have been made at the side for cruise ship passangers too have a great time.
most cruise ships here dont start with their first cruise by departing at curacao.
Ships like carnival cruises, celebrity cruises, RCL, and Princes cruises mostly depart from USA or Europe
and do a 2 week cruise that includes passing curacao.

Captain Mitch i hope you like what i told you.
Kind Regards

I am not sure if this is something you can doe, but have you thought about creating Curacao - or a portion of it -  for the Content Creation Contest?  It looks like you have all the raw materials needed to do a really good job and, you are correct, this is a beautiful port.

Alternately, if you are a better ship builder, your last post had pictures of several ships that would be great entries in the contest.

Anyway, food for thought.  Thank you for sharing this.

CURACAO,
Is really a fantastic place with a great view besides the channel and a large amount of different ships types calling this port, general cargoes, reefers, big bulk carriers, big tankers and big passanger vessel's.
Also theres a very particular too in this port that is the pantoon bridge wich make its very different and especial from others ports.

I'm not going to say that CURACAO is the best! But really I believe that many and many people would like to have an option to handle a ship in this port with the SSE as I wish....

I would love to see this great port in the game!
This port could be used in a lot of missions; everything from cargo shipping to speed boating.

Wow.  This port looks to be as great as Vancouver BC - in fact even better from a "game" point of view.   But I would still like to have Vancouver too.

Calm down, and there's no need to shout (using capital letters).

Everyone is entitled to their views/opinions.  Let's face it, if everyone agreed on same thing all the time, life would be pretty boring.  ;)
