VTS is great, but if you aren't a local mariner the use of local vs call in points is a challenge. The speed at which opposing trafic is listed upon check in is a challenge too. If you are used to the VTS area, traffic and local names, rattling things off to the VTS is fun. Thanks for the post. This is a neat website.

Radio Comms are always quick, this is to free up radio time for other callers, if you ever get the chance to listen into Ch 0 (SAR Channel) you will be suprised how quick we talk and how quick you learn to listen to details in every transmission, this then leaks into your home life and I hear more than one conversation and listen to my partner to a tee now

Quick messages can only be done when all parties know what they are talking about. 'Normal' ship/ship and ship/shore traffic should be done at a rather slow pace and 'to the point'.

You're right on the multiple conversations, as we are trained to listen to several VHF channels at the same time and also to the persons around you
