video card.
« on: September 12, 2010, 04:01:41 »

hi

im in the process of purchasing a new card.. my 9800GTX+ is just not gonna cut it in the near future.  i have a budget of around 340$ to spend. the rest of my money is going toward a  RAM upgrade and a new CPU cooler.
but i need some help in making my final decision. i want something that will Run SSE nicely. the main thing i need is a card with at least 1GB of memory and Nvidia. my current card has 512...

so for the last few weeks iv had my set on the EVGA GTX 470. but this thing is a monster and my main concern is heat. i dont have any fancy cooling systems in my case and this thing gets very hot. aswell is the PSU, the minimum is 550W and i run a 650W

iv been looking around on tigerdirect and somethings i see i like are the GTX 460  GTS 450 GTS 250. do you guys know anything about these cards and can you give me any other ideas?

thanks!

One thing to bear in mind is the case as you say these cards are big mine has 2 built in fans
GTX 460 .
My friend wanted my A.T.I card but his case was to small for the card

Id consider the pretty new GTX460. I have a GTX470 since launch myself, and it has already burned once (it is also VERY loud). Should be fine with your PSU. You would also have a bit more to spend on RAM.
