Oil Rig and Ship Assistance
« on: September 05, 2007, 18:50:09 »

Hi everyone!
Hope you can help me...

I am getting mad to be able to tug de Oil Rig with both suply vessels!! Is there any way to do it correctly? Do I have to moor in a special way? Both vessels start moving from one side to another when they start pulling! :-\

The same happens with the Tug Boat when trying to asssist the huge container ship moor! I can't even move it!!!

Hope someone can clarify this! 8)

Best regards,

They're bugs. Should be sorted in patch/addon :)

Actually, I did the mission of the oil rig, as I think others have done. It's a bit tricky cause you have to pay attention on what's the course of both tugs and you have to pay attention not to let them get too close to each other, but it's perfectly playable. What left me kind of puzzled, is that depending on the distance you are from the oil rig when you connect the ropes, towing ropes have different lengths... that's not right! If you don't place the tugs at the same distance, you'll end up with a towing rope longer than the other, making it really difficult to manouver...

Actually quite easy.  Use 2 to 3 lines for the first tug, while both tug and rig are stationary.  next, go get tug #2 and do the same.  2 or three lines keep the tug from "spinning out".  then all you do is drive the whole thing like a twin screw without a steering wheel

Hi
I tried this mission also several times and i found it out when I connect the towing wire too far from the rig, I can't move ahead even at full thrust. But when I connect the towing wire inside the green circle, it works.
But for real towing, it's really too short. I work on a supply ship and my last contract we did a rig move. We had been towing it for 3 days with 500m payed out.
It could be great to be able to pay on or pay out cable in the simulator.

Thanks everyone for your answers!

As I already mentioned we are shipowners and have not only tankers but offshore supplys too.
I very apreciate comments I find on this fourm of people that are really working on board. They should be consider to improve the game!.
 ;)

Regarding the mission I'll keep on trying!! Connecting the tow lines from a near possition, and same distance between vessels and oil rig!
