Is this email Legit
« on: September 09, 2010, 18:42:20 »

I recently got 2 emails, from 2 different email adresses (support@shipsim.com and Info@shipsim.com), and I'm worried that they might be cons. The messages seems poorly written:

Dear Sir,

please respond for this urgent matter, regarding your order of Shipsim Extreme, we received a note from Skynet Express service, that you had provided us with incomplete shipment address, they cannot deliver the package, please indicate your cell phone number, that they  could contact you by phone.

 Kind Regards

 Ship Sim team

Can anyone confirm if this is legit?

(I'm also concerned, as I already HAVE my order of Extremes)

It looks very suspicious to me. I would contact VSTEP directly if you are not sure.

I asked Frank if he would take a look. Won't be till tomorrow though. In the mean time, just ignore it since you  have received your copy.

But is seems legit to me though.

Just checked, and it seems these mails were sent by our administration. The Express courier service notified us that they have been coming around to your address several times and there was never no one at home, hence their request for a phone number and verification. This was passed on to our administration who in turn contacted you. So yes, it is legit.

If you have already received your package now of course, then it is no longer relevant.

Hope this clears thing up.
Regards,
Frank

You are right to be suspicious there is a scam going on where an e-mail is sent looking like it is from DHL or UPS suggesting they are trying to deliver a parcel. The e-mail asks you to open an attachment. DON'T DO IT!!! it is a virus or worm.

I have had e-mails pretending to be from three different international parcels companies all have exactly the same wording with an .exe file attached.

I know this is a little off topic but thought it a timely warning.
