Those speakers do make a real difference to your gaming experience, but I got them for the quality of the sound, not the power ;D

Using a high-end power setup gives you greater sound quality at lower volumes too ;)

Not at the moment, I would like to, but would have to upgrade my Motherboard too ::)

I will go for a socket 940 mobo though as I'm running a 939 at the moment ;D

Edit:  I may even go for AM2 yet, haven't decided ::)

The joy of owning a PC eh..............buy it, the following day it's out-of-date.......upgrade, out-of-date......etc etc. ::)

I think the PC market and the technology needs to settle, and give us all a break ;)

The PC Market wil settle as soon as uncle Bill from Micro$oft does.

Each OS launched needs at least twice as much CPU power, RAM and HDD storage as the previous one.

MS-Dos needed something like 4 MB of HDD space
Windows 3.11 needed 15 to 20 MB
Windows 95 could be installed under 200 MB
Windows 98 was a bigger then that the same for Windows ME.
Windows XP not under 1 GB
And for Vista you need 8 GB minimum

You want to settle buy a Mac but then you cant play Ship Sim  ;)

I'll definitely PASS on that one, couldn't do without my Ship Sim now ;D

I was gonna try Linux, but can't be bothered setting up 'Wine' and all the other headache-inducing programs to be honest ;)

When I bought it last year it was all brand new, now it is allmost outdated, there's no way keeping up with computer development  :'( , ah were are those glorious dos days when it was impossible to crash your pc and when defragging your 30 mb harddrive took most of the morning, wait a minute, that wasn't so glorious was it? Besides shipsimulator then would have been 2 D probably  ;D with pixels the size of office-blocks  ;D

I still remember my Amiga days, no upgrade needed for about 10 years......if only it was like that now eh ;)

I also remember my first flight sim, it was on the Commodore 16 and all you had were dials.  You had to get your 'o' to meet up with the 'x'......spent hours on that one LOL ;D

I bet you also had great engine sound from the onboard speaker. I remember my brother who had a "realistic"  ;) formula one game on his XT  :P , I drove the neighbours mad with the electronic drone coming from the onboard speaker, which, by the way, had no volume knob on it  :D

Onboard speakers, now that takes me back.....scary :P

I also remember having to press the 'tape' reset button to be able to rewind it back to that position.....just so you could load in level 1 again ;D

Those were the days eh ;)

I was lucky enough to be able to follow the most important part of pc and game development in the past. To be honest, back in the "old" days, my friends and I were often fantasizing about the future of pc and game development, and were in awe of games we think of as "unplayable", and boring now. I spend weeks playing a space sim called elite wich was only available in black and white and vector grafics. It was , for me, the first true 3 D game, and I thoughed it was awesome....  ;)
I bet if we would have been taken to this day and era we would be amazed about what is possible now, and think we were looking at a movie instead of a game :o , and still we are not satisfied now  ;D ;D . We want more of it all !!! And most importantly, we want it now !!!  ;D  ;D  ;D

Elite eh, great game in it's day ;D

I still love the old games........who didn't love games like Pacman, Space Invaders, Outrun, Space Harrier.....the list could go on forever ;)

They were £25 (GBP), a real bargain ;D

Got them from a local computer supplier, but newer and more powerful ones are available now ;)
