First impressions
« on: September 04, 2010, 02:27:15 »

:( First impressions of this sim are really quite dissapointing, the sim feels as though it should have been an expansion on the last sim. On youtube the video they have indicates waves caused by the ships but i find no option for this on the steam version even though the manual shows clear indication of this. Do i feel that they have rushed the reease of this sim? the first mission for greenpeace i see the container ship glithcing quite a lot after completing the main mission and heading back to dock (as though it has grounded maybe). I am interested what others think of this sim. Maybe we can have an admins say on the whole release and what to expect in the coming patches as i feel i have wasted my money so far. I have really enjoyed the ship sim series so far but i seem disapointed on the latest release so far and feel they could have done better with the time that has been had for development and with the current demands for visual and gameplay needs.

Regards.

Welcome to the forum and to  this wonderfully game :2thumbs: well my meaning do and we maybe can help you yo be happy with it to

sorry to hear that you are disepointed with it, but the they have indicates waves caused by the ships, well they are their, maybe you have sett the grapick setting to low.
I'm not a administrator but i'm sure Mad_Fred will come with a better answer later, but if you post your pc's DxDiag. to find that writh into you searrch fealt in you start menu DxDiag and start that program, press save all and add the text file you got into the post then we can see if you pc are god enough to run SSE.
Kind regards

So far have only played free roaming as that is how I prefer to play.  Initial views are that SSE does not live up to the pre sales hype.  On Dover-Calais, Vstep have managed to increase the distance between the Dover Eastern Entrance to CA Buoy (Calais Approach) to 77 miles which is quite an impressive feat in anybody's language.  Three and a half hours at 22 knots to get between these two points has considerably altered the geographical area of the Dover Strait.
When starting from a position SW of Dover the visual and chart shows you to be about 2-3 miles off the coast abeam of the eastern end of Samphire Hoe.  The distance then to Point Alpha (Dover Reporting point) would be about 6 miles somehow this translates to 11 miles and even then that means a sharp turn and oblique entrance via Eastern.  That would be ok but I think the PoR would struggle a little.
Graphics whilst being good can you please tell me why I can see the coast in orbit, helm but not walkthrough?
I hope that Vstep have a lot of patches and fixes ready because I think that SSE has a lot that needs fixing.

Hi scotian,

If it took 3.5 hours, you probably had a very low frame rate.
As in SS 2008, I suspect that the true speed of ships is proportional to the frame rate; that the frame period is the clock, rather than the RT clock.

Marty
