Night lighting?
« on: August 30, 2010, 12:10:35 »

Just curious...

Are the ports lit up at night, or are they suffering from a power cut like in 08?

Thanks Tore...

That really does look quite good indeed.

BTW- what are the wave heights port/sea? From one photo I've seen elsewhere it does look like the waves are different in port?

Now all we need is some decent bridge/deck lights :)

Totally agree with everything said here.

The environments are massivly improved and we do need lights on the ships now, even if it is just in the bridge.

One thing though, try turning the 'aground' nav lights on the cruise ships, looks quite nice ;)

Hi All
As a seaman in charge of a watch at night come on my bridge and switch a bridge
light on and I am afraid  I would not be pleased at my night vision being spoiled.
Bridge needs to be dark so that you have good vision around you out of the windows
switching lights on in the bridge even once you'r eyes have ajusted to the light still
shine back from windows and restrict you'r vision so for me no thanks keep it real

Hi Eric,

I didn't necessarily mean bright shining lights on the bridge, perhaps I gave the wrong impression :)

I just mean the ships seem very dark and some lights on them would be nice.

There is an option called "moored" which switches on all of the deck lights  :)

Thats good but i wouldn't really call them lights, they just seem like bright colours on this game, little circles, it doesn't really create any light on the deck or anything, it just stays dark.

My thoughts exactly. Some flood lights would be nice like you would get on a fishing vessel for example :)

I fully agree, it would also be good to have a night pallette mode for the chart if that's not already there for the same reason. But well done vStep on finally bringing city lights to the game.

Is the spinny tower illuminated in Pompey???

In real life, it is very impressive to see at night... I see it every time I go past on peeandohnoos Pride of Bilbao... Or at least I did until they screwed it up like most of their other routes... Sorry, going o.t.

Haven't tested The Solent at night yet (or at Day, I seem to be fixated on a certain route camapigned by you Stu  ;))

But ot does look  good...

Just need the Lighthouses to flash and the harbour entrances to have red and green entrances lights now

But great job VSTEP

Edit: Just checked (in my grounded PoR)

And it does light up... but not quite like she does...

I really hope they bring lights to the ships because they looks really dull at night! Would be nice to have a few portholes lit up

I suggest that you write to Paradox with the list of things you want them to add to the game. That would take some of the load off of VSTEP.

They made the lights on the bridge red, because the color red doesn't effect your nightview  ;)

Paradox wouldn't do anything. They only publish the game and don't have any developing role at all. Anything that gets made for the game is made my VSTEP only. But they read the forums so they should see these suggestions.
