Full fraps: No logo, full quality and a really long time for records.

Hiya :)

For those that don't already know, Fraps uses uncompressed video for it's captures.  This can put a strain on system performance, when I was capturing my last movie footage (Battlefield 2), I had over 100gb of captures.......my final movie was 4m 50s long.

Expect big files if you use the full version of Fraps guys ;)

There are other capture programs out there that compress the video files, like Growler Guncam (http://www.growlersoftware.com/) for example.  I have only ever used Fraps, so I have no idea what the other programs are like, may be worth a try though ;)

Regards.

Hiya :)

There seem to be 2 different versions of this software, I downloaded and tested the wrong one at first ::)

This one only captures images, not video:

Easy Screen Capture 2 (http://www.longfine.com/)

This one captures Video:

Easy Screen Capture Video 2 (http://www.easyscreencapturevideo.com/)

I did download this one also and tested it, seems a little awkward.  I still prefer Fraps ;)

I've been using Fraps very successfully for several years.  It provides excellent quality video capture of games with anywhere from 25 to 60 Frames Per Second.  Granted, the files can get rather large but I use Windows Movie Maker to condense the file size considerably without any appreciable loss of quality.  I've successfully uploaded condensed Fraps movies of Ship Sim and other games to Youtube and Photobucket.  Just checked their website fraps.com and it currently is selling the program for $37 USD, with free updates.

Well, I was lucky enough to know someone who had a copy, so I just installed then gave it back, but how much is it anyway?

Is fraps paypal? As I'm only using the demo version but really want it and if its PP, then I'm 100% for it!

Thanks, sky.

Not sure about the trial, it is limited I believe.  On the full version, you press F9 to recotd whilst in-game ;)

Make sure you choose a location for your captures too :)

Nothing at all?    Try this, click the FPS settings in Fraps and choose a corner to display the FPS number.  When capturing is working, this number will change colour (not sure what colour as I'm colourblind).

This should give you an indication as to whether everything is working correctly ;)

Hmm.....let me think......

Can't be a codec issue because Fraps uses it's own .dll for uncompressed video.  Just in case though, you could try this if you haven't already ;)

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Codec_Pack.htm

Have you tried the Tech support pages on the Fraps site:

http://www.fraps.com/faq.php

I would suggest 'buying' a good editor for post-production though, free ones are ok, but as the old saying goes.....'you get what you pay for'  ;)

I know you can do a lot more effects and tranitions with 5 but what over differences are there?

I've never used any other version to be honest, although the new features are listed here (http://www.serif.com/movieplus/movieplus5/new-features1.asp) ;)
