Azipods For Shipsim?
« on: August 30, 2007, 15:21:32 »

To all,

Let me first say how much i like SS08 and how i think everything about it is great apart from a few things but they are only minor things.

After a recent cruise on royal caribbean's Explorer of the Seas from New York Cape Liberty to bermuda and the eastern caribbean i thought to myself how brilliant it would be to have various cruise ships in later patches mounted with azipods and the cruise ships would have the proper azipod controls on the bridge.

Its just a thought but what does anyone else think?

Hi oliverh,

since the beginning of the "Ocean Star"-construction we are talking about that theme with the developers at VSTEP! Well, there are lots of new larger cruise lines with conventional propulsion system, that's why the "Ocean Star" got it too. But there will be of course more than one azipod driven vessel in the future of ShipSim, maybe a tug first and than ferries or cruise liners. For sure!

Cheers

Good idea. The red eagle already has a different population system.

the Norwegian Star also had azipods in the FRONT. They were electrically powered (Generators)

Hihi  ;D - "population system" ??? Kind of birth control aboard.. ;D

Azipods in the FRONT ??? How strange is that? Okay, there are two ABB azipods under her stern and three Brunvoll bow thrusters too. That would be really great for the sim indeed!

 :-[ Can't use your mentioned link.  :-\

Best regards

I could well imagine that an azipod or any other propulsion system could be used as a "painful" birth control.  :'(
