I Bought SimSim 2008 and New Horizons when it first came out and have been running it ever since. I now have a new computer as the HDD in the old one failed. However the download links for the game are broken in my original confirmation e-mail. I was wondering where i could re-download the game from now. I have the licence keys as they are on the original e-mail. Its just that the links are broken. The game was stored on the old links at:
http://www.vstepsupport.com
and
http://www.vstepvideos.com/

Hi Alex and welcome to the forum!

You can go to the new site at http://www.shipsim.com/

And log in there with the same login details you used when you made your puchases. Then you should be able to download them once more, via the 'orders and downloads' page.

Drop me a line if you are unsuccesful for some reason!

He was referring to a legit link on the official website where he could download another copy of the game , that he has already bought from Vstep via download.

The ambx reference is however not valid, he can only download it where he bought it, the way he meant..

But it's already solved anyway.

It made perfect sense to me.

But I don't think you understood what was asked and answered here. And how you were butting in after the fact with a hint of an illegal activity like advising someone to download the game from a non-official source. Which is against the rules I might add.

And the apology should preferably be for your rude approach to posting on this forum, not my 'so called' misunderstanding of your words.

did i see a few months ago you saying that if you have purchesed the serial key and have lost the game you could download it without a key from a non official source just be careful of viruses, and that was within the rights of the licence?

It is allowed, but certainly not recommended, unless you have no other option. This only then applies for DVD-Rom's that break/stop working, since you can just re-download the download version from the official site if you opted for that.

But that's not what this kid had in mind. It was already dealt with and he came barging in with more of the 'it's perfectly normal to google stuff and download it for free illegally' attitude that a lot of members of the younger generation seem to have. Which I dissapprove of.

And the rule I mention to that effect, is that you can't promote piracy, so to speak. Had it been well informed and substantiated and perhaps even backed with the quote of me saying that in case of emergency it's okay to use an illegal copy, I might have reacted differently. Hope that clears it up a bit.

It's a grey area, and it depends on how it's been suggested.

Has VSTEP ever thought of downloading a illegal copy and find out the license key used and block it from being used or is it not that simple?

Oh yeah.

There's a whole bunch of blocked ones.

That's why so many people come with the question 'my license key isn't accepted anymore after I update the game'.
