I only read two days ago that they are in Barcelona, and I was so excited i purchased an airline ticket to Barcelona next week  :2thumbs: Can't wait to see them!
I get in at 9:10Am , and leave late evening the same day. So I hope I don't have to sign up the day before  ???
Were there many people there?

Kind Regards

Matthew

P.S. let me know which crew are there!

Oh ok then that's fine! Since I'm only there for one day I can't afford anything to go wrong haha!

Have a brilliant time and tell us all about it when you get back

I would say that 13:00-14:00 is an excellent time to go, thats the Spanish "siesta"time when they all go to sleep!

Oh well, shame about the crew, but I suppose they need a holiday at some stage and where better than Barcelona!
Can't wait to your pics!

What time did you go in the end? Was it busy?  Cause I really don't fancy being onboard with loads of people all trying to take pictures in the same place!

Kind Regards

Matthew

EDIT: For anyone who can't go and would like to, here is a previous tour (not by me!)...

Yes they currently have the Steve Irwin & Bob Barker.

There is also a third "mystery" ship in the gulf of Mexico.

matt, the tours are from 3pm to 6pm. they only let a group of people on at a time, and they have 1 spanish tour per day, the others are english. they are guided tours and the places you see are the stern, heli deck, bridge, mess hall, and communications room. they are in the Mediterranean for a campaign on tuna fishing. on the tour the guide will show you where the tuna boat dented the stern of Steve Irwin after they got fed up with them. there were at least 12 people and if you want some good pics, the key is to stay in the back of everyone and wait for everyone to follow the guide allowing you to get shots of the ship with no one there. She did say there was a ship in the Gulf but not much other stuff about that. I didn't ask, but if you don't mind can you ask the guide where the crew is. seeing as none of them were on board. they also show a video in the mess hall about their campaigns for sharks, turtles, tuna, seals, and whales.

Well, what can I say. Barcelona was brilliant! A very long day indeed.

I went down to the dock at about 2 and had a chat with them there, and I was going to do the 3 o clock tour.
They decided to do a Spanish tour first (it depends how many of each they have) and we went along with a guide and saw it all, but mum doesnt understand Spanish like I do and the guy picked up on it, so he said we could go on the English tour next with an actual crew member called Sebastien. Who I spoke to earlier in the day.

His tour was brilliant! Very informative, showed us and explained everything.
He even let us smell the butyric acid!
We went all over the ship, bridge ect. We hung back slightly so we could grab some pics.
Then they showed us a video in the mess, and it was funny because there were 3 more actual crew members eating at the table!
We then went up onto the Heli deck, but unfortuantely it was in the U.S having repairs.

When we came onto the bow to finish the tour and we bought some souvenirs.
And then it got better, Dan Villa who has been with Sea Shepherd for 5 years was actually waiting for me there, he heard I had flown just for a day to see the ship and he was really impressed!
He very kindly gave me a free patch and even better he invited me down into the engine room  :o And he was really funny and he answered our questions. Then he took us onto the bow and we looked at the new water cannon.  It was amazing! He was such a nice guy

Below are some photos and a video of Dan Villa! The video of the whole tour i havent downloaded yet but I will do so soon.

Kind Regards

Matthew

Great pictures Matt!

But err.. what's with his leg?  Don't tell me they even hurt themselves when they are moored and having a friendly tour?  :P

Seriously though, that must have been a really great day for you.

Even walking around on a safely moored ship is dangerous!  ;)

Great pics Matthew, thanks for sharing!
