Problems with (un)brething Pride of Rotterdam

Berthing and unberthing the Pride of Rotterdam, sideways.
What about bow thruster, engines and rudder?
Who can help me to breth and unberth her sideways?
Berth/unberthing sidaways forward an backward like Pride of Dover
(I like to do it with POR)

POR is only a stern loader, no?

You can get her to move sideways by using these combinations:

Sideways Port:



Sideways Starboard:



Same goes for all the other twin screw ships with a bow thruster. You can fiddle around with the controls to alter the sideways/backwards/forwards speed. And yup, POR is a stern loader only.

Berthing the Pride of Rotterdam sideways goes rather slow, is this normal?
How can her lateral movement be inflated? I fiddled around with the controls
to incrase the sideway speed, but that does not change much.

It makes sense that it goes slow, afterall there is a lot of surface that's getting resistance

If you think it’s hard getting her to go fast sideways, consider how hard it would be to get her to quickly stop going sideways before she crashes into the dock.

For me the 'slowness' is what makes it when berthing. It gives me more time to fiddle with the controls and allow for a better judgement of distance..when you're zooming up to the wall its difficult to do either.

Well, since you  are dealing with a big vessel, sometimes the power of the engine and the bow thrusters varies depending on the size and the weight of the vessel. POR is a very large ferry.

Even with something nippy like the Sherpa, I tend to pull away slowly or come in slowly...but once i'm a good enough distance away from the wall i'll power on. But whilst i'm manouvering near anything, i'm very cautious.

Berthing and unberthing is a question of patience. When you are on a real ferry approaching the berth, berthing will always take some time. It can easily take about half an hour when a ferry is approaching the berth and is berthing.
