Animals?
« on: July 09, 2010, 20:27:33 »

Its just a question of mine that has kind of been eating me up for a while. When I first saw the first trailer of Ship Simulator Extremes I thought wow! That looks amazing. And I was just wondering, are the whales in the start of the video going to be in game? In the Antarctic campaign at all? Because it's based on saving the whales. Anyway, its just a question. And if there aren't any whales, will there be any other type of sea life that you can see?

Well you're not going to see them perfectly, (if there are any at all!).
But I'm sure a nice little flick of the tail, or breathing water from the surface will be enough to brighten someones day.

I suppose VSTEP could be really clever, and fix a "fake" webcam to the bottom of the Greenpeace ships and then while your in the bridge you can see an animation (like the SSE video) on a monitor in the bridge so it almost looks like you can see the whales at certain times  :2thumbs: That would be really nice.
Because obviously they cant have a normal webcam streaming as they would not model the whole ocean floor!
But just a whale coming and going, on a loop system  :)

Kind Regards

Matthew

If you didn't quite get what I meant in the previous post, then below is an image indicating what I meant.
A TV monitor to view a looped animation of some whales whilst in the Antarctic.  :2thumbs:

*Take note that the above image is a suggestion, and is not included in SSE!

EDIT: Improved photo

Why won't be able to see underwater? VS (demo at least) has an underwater camera, and I doubt VSTEP wants to allow them to continue to have a USP.

If you take a look at some of the screenshots on the main page you can see the continuation of the hull and the props of some ships under the water before the visibility is lost due to the depth.  The picture I have in mind is that of the Agile Solution near dusk, a view from the stern.

Some of the pictures of SSE, like Red Marbella Delight in Bora Bora, you can see underwater. Seagulls are back in SS, since SS06, so how about the Whales. With clear water to see through, you might see a whale or two. But we have to wait to get the full experience of SSE

Well don't forget there were seagulls in the SS08 Box Cover, but none actually in SS08

There should be whales and dolphins in Extremes.  The seas and oceans in SS08 feel "deadish" without marine life.
