when i usually go to Dover i sometimes go up the cliffs (not the castle) but a car park area that some people also call Love-cliff    you know... but i go there because the view is amazing and you will see the whole port and if the weather is clear you could be able to see calais and some cliffs in calais too!

But this is where she is right now!:

and there is a chance that she might go under the E20 bridge but looking at the website there is a chance she might go a different direction but thats all we can hope for

did it say 9 Jan? Please let it be on January and no ice please!!!!!

My Birthday is on 9 January and it would be great if the ship arrived on the same day of my birthday :)

What will happen to the Pride of Dover and Pride of Calais? Will they be chartered, be sold or go to the scrapeyard?

What are the safety features oh this new ferry? I saw in the above-mentioned youtube video that she has two bow doors, the outer one as a kind of a clam door and the inner one acting as the collision bulkhead door.

Does the Spirit of Britain also have flood control doors at her main cardeck and doe she have a double hull (built in sponson), like the Dutch L.P.D. Hr. Ms. Rotterdam does?

sorry this should have been posted earlier but some bugg didnt let me but here it is:

9/1/11

Having negotiated over 100 miles of ice flow (the worst seen in 30 years), 40mph snow storms and some very testing sea conditions in the North Sea, the Spirit of Britain finally entered Dover harbour shortly after 11am on Sunday 9th January.
Greeted by glorious sunshine and hundreds of onlookers lining the cliffs and seafront, the vessel made a trip across the harbour prior to berthing in the Eastern Docks for the very first time.  In fact the sense of the occasion was wonderfully captured by a welcoming salute from rival SeaFrance’s Berlioz as the Spirit of Britain entered the harbour.
Upon arrival Captain David Miller enthused about the vessel’s exquisite sea-keeping qualities even in some pretty unsavory conditions.  He noted that this bodes well for the smoothness of the journey it should be able to deliver on her new Dover-Calais service.
Included below are a couple of pictures of the Spirit of Britain arriving on Sunday together with a hint of what you can expect to find onboard when she enters service at the end of next week.

A Question:

Why does every ferry have a fender along her hull near the waterline, I see it also on the Spirit of Britain and the other vessel of Norfolk Line. ;D

I’ve heard a few people mutter that the Spirit of Britain didn’t look ‘that big’ when she entered the Port of Dover last Sunday.  Perhaps from up on the cliffs her size was not immediately apparent.
Thanks then to the Senior Master of the Pride of Canterbury Captain Steve Johnson (who incidentally will also be Senior Master of the Spirit of France) who from his unique vantage point was able to perfectly capture the size of the new ship in comparison to the Pride of Calais
