Uboats at altitude !
« on: June 10, 2010, 14:12:45 »

Hi to all,             Just in case one or two actually accept my `tale` about  the `Baron Boats`
and their `tinned pilchards`,    Well, the pilchards bit was quite true, however the rest of it about  Uboats  with
downward facing periscopes and the `tinned pilchard trails` was certainly NOT true.    Nevermind though , I` will
now tell you one that IS ! :-

I remember one time we were one day out of port after loading iron ore, and we were hosing down the decks.
Suddenly a Uboat periscope popped up not too far away from the ship. We had a deck gun but unfortunately the
firing angle could not be depressed sufficiently enough to get a shot off.    Well, the bloke on the hose came up
with a `brainwave`, and he directed the water jet at the Uboats periscope and kept it playing on it.   The Uboat
commander obviously thinking that his boat had submerged a little, gave the order to continue surfacing.  We
simply just waited and let him come up and up and up until he got high enough for us to bring the gun to bear.
Then of course we `shot him down` !     Actually, this tactic became widely adopted and in the course of the war a further 19 Uboats were lost in this manner.      I`m quite sure that my one time friend Kapitan Otto Rhinehart of the Kriegsmarine would vouch for this account, but unfortunately he is `now deceased` !!!

Regards from Ken.

`COME ON` Aad The Pirate ?       I`m surprised at you !   The content itself tells you it`s a `STORY` !    Strictly for LAUGHS !     Look to `IRISHJACK`.    He `picked it up`right away`, yet he`s only fifteen years old, AND he`s Irish !!    No offence to you I hope IRISHJACK ?  I think you are great !
Regards to both,
Ken.

You're saying that not 1, but 20 U-boat captains were fooled in this way..?
I find that a bit hard to believe.. ;D

IRISHJACK,
I`m afraid that I am responsible for your missing post [along with one or two others]. I stupidly  pressed the `delete topic` button thinking that just my own last post would go, but `Hey Presto` everything else also immediately disappeared.  I did say `OOPS`! [along with other things] but it was too late of course and I had to `repost` my original but could not do the same for yours and the others.  My apologies for that, !     I appreciate your interest in my `STORIES`.
By the way Jack, whats with the figures 5 and 4 replacing the letters S and A in your latest Title ?
Regards,
Ken.

Hi Ken,

No worries at all - I thought it might of been something along those lines. Regarding the 'Stories' I'm certainly interested! Being Irish; story telling is quite an art in Ireland  :D (Story telling in Irish terms being telling porkys haha)

Ahhhh my name...to cut the story short - I registered on a site which required me to have letters and numbers in my password. At first I had entered "irishjack" but it refused to accept it because of the reasons above ^^, so I thought i'd replace the S with a 5, and the A with a 4. I thought it was too good to be a password, and so, everywhere I register my name is "IRI5HJ4CK"

Although that wasn't very short, i'll blame that on being Irish - we have an inability to cut a long story short

Kind Regards,
Jack.
