New info about SSE
« on: May 21, 2010, 18:05:45 »

I guess anyone that has subscribed to the newsletter on ShipSim.com, should have received this:

"Dear Members,

Thanks for being with us and helping us save our Virtual Oceans our forum will be going underconstruction and be getting a New Extreme look for the New Upcoming game SSE in August we thank you for being with us and the website should be up and running by Friday."

This means, SSE will not be released on June but August

I hope the "forum mood" won't be dull & grey/dark, unlike the main site.

Yeah....I agree....I think it will be a shame to make the colours dark like the main website :-\ - I like the Ship Sim forum mainly because of its layout and its styling...

I kinda like the idea of a contest of going aboard the real Rainbow Warrior III in 2011. That sounds great.

Works fine on my computer, don't be so sure it's the content to blame. It could be your download speed.

There isn't really such thing as a scripting bug, it's just made to display what they told it to, and they probably designed it in a program like DreamWeaver, so the chance of any bugs is low, and it wouldn't be on a break in period, since it's new content, not a newly registered domain.

What's your download spead, Gibby12? :)

if you check the SSE page on the main website there is an official release date now in august. Which has been there since the new site was put up.

Is this the MMMMMM Email:

http://80.95.161.114/shipsim/forum/index.php/topic,18858.0/topicseen.html

Too late ;D

The contents of the Email is what makes me laugh. There's no link to his forum, or anything of the likes...but I can only assume it is his "Greenpeace Virtual", as it says something along the lines of "Saving our Virtual Oceans"..

Re: New info about SSE

what is ping?

Think of the web server as a submarine, sending out a pulse of sound (or in this case data). This is recieved by your computer, and it tells your computer to send it back. So it does. Meanwhile, the web server is timing the whole event, from the time it sends the pulse, to the time it recieves it. The difference is the 'ping'

Ping is actually derived from sonar, referring to the time it takes for the sound from the sonar to reflect off the enemy's hull and return.

For a more techy explanation, see here. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ping)
