Getting new ships
« on: May 16, 2010, 11:28:58 »

When I registered my SS2008 (not new horizons) - I randomly got the Jumbo Javelin key on this website.
I wanted to get the Wachthaven, but it only comes up with setup.
How do you earn the license key for a ship?

Thanks

If I remember correctly, the Wachthaven ship is in a super pack and therefore does not require a key.

Joust go to http://www.shipsim.com/shipyard/shipyard.php  and you can download all the new ships for free, key not needed
here you have the direct link to download the ship you want

Download the setup file and then double-click it to run it.
For many of the SuperPacks you must have New Horizons.
Except for Wachthaven and the bulk ship, they are not “new” ships. They require that the ships already exist on your computer.

So which ships can you get straight away, because in the Wachthaven III folder I later decided to install to the desktop, it only had:

ShipSim2008/Actors/Objects/InlandContainer/(a list of all the files called inland container(+horn))

You do not “install Wachthaven III to the desktop”. You double-click the downloaded WachthavenIIISSuperPack_Setup.exe to run it. That will put files in various folders to install the ship and missions.
Wachthaven III is an inland container ship.
You can install any SuperPacks for ships that you already have. Some are only in New Horizons, and some (Furie & Elbe) must be purchased. Jumbo Javelin is free and can be downloaded & installed from within your profile.

I got the installing to the ShipSim folder, but did not know you had to already own the ship.

Thanks

P.S. Just to make sure, is the Jumbo Javelin the only ship you can get from this website with the standard SS2008? (to add on?)

You can purchase Furie & Elbe from the Shipyard.

You should be able to use the SuperPack for the bulk ship Selsey III because it is a new ship from a different VSTEP program.

All other packs simply modify files for existing ships on your computer. If you install a pack for a ship that you do not own, you will be asked for a serial key when you try to use that ship. However, there will be no way to enter it.
