The ships of Ship Simulator Extremes.
« on: April 21, 2010, 00:59:55 »

Does anyone know the exact vessels featured in ss10? I'm preferably a tugboat person so in tugboats will there be anything new?  or just the same old tugs weve previously had?

Hi Ryano1989,

No, the exact list of ships will probably not be known until after Beta testing because Extremes is a new simulator, not an update of SS2008. It has a new sea model that requires some work to make existing ships work.

Most ships in SS08 will probably make it into Extremes, but Titanic poses some special problems that may defer its introduction.

As for new ships, some have been shown in videos such as the Green Peace ship and a Coast Guard ship.
Others are implied: For instance, realistic missions for Green Peace are promised, which implies the existence of whaling ships.

Understandably, VSTEP is reluctant to promise anything that might not survive Beta testing, or might not be finished in time for the estimated release date.

Around the end of this month, there may be a site and forum devoted to Extremes. More information may then be available.

Regards,
Marty

Hi ryano1989,

I’d like to see a Voith Water Tractor like the escort tug Nanuq.

While B2 is technically a tractor tug, she lacks the characteristics of a VWT as it is generally used in escort work. One difference is in the size of the skeg, and its importance in providing braking force when controlling large tankers at the stern.

I wonder how some players will be able to control a tug like that, when they are already struggling with the Bugsier 2 or the Red Eagle...

The only two known ships that WILL be in the Extremes is the US Coast Guard Vessel and Greenpeace Esperanza. From the new trailer of the game and pictures, it looks like the Pride of Rotterdam, RPA 12, P6, Pioneer, Ocean Star, Agile Solution, and Vermaas will be in there. From a Ship Simulator Press Release, I got a cool picture of the Improved Agile Solution in the new harbor to the game:

Well the RHIB in the trailers is 'Inferno', NOT Billy G.

Esperanza
Billy G
RWIII
Inferno
LNG Platform
Sydney Harbour Patrol
USCG Cutter
Karel Doormand 'M' class
La Fayette

Even though the red jet 4 is already in the trailer for SSE if you look at the back of that picture you can see Red Jet 4 :

Hi Salty,

That’s a famous poster here in Oregon because the “flasher” went on to become the Mayor of Portland, OR where the photo was shot.
The statue is "Kvinneakt", which means nude Spambot in Norwegian.
The poster has been used to advertise various cultural events in Portland.
