HMHS Britannic Add-on for Ship Simulator 2008

Yeah, yeah, yeah, we ALL know that TITANIC is on Ship Simulator 2008, but I want (as much as any other Titanic Experts) to Captain MORE ships like the HMHS Britannic and the Lusitania. Why can't VSTEP JUST make a Add-on package for Ship Simulator 2008, that allow BRITANNIC in the game, or the Lusitania. If VSTEP had permission to copy Titanic from the White Star Line, they SHOULD be able to get the permisson to copy Britannic and put it on the game, as well. IT'S JUST TITANIC, BUT WHITE WITH HOSPITAL SIGNS PAINTED ON IT AND WITH GOLD/BRONZE FUNNELS!! HOW HARD COULD IT BE TO PUT BRITANNIC ON SHIP SIMULATOR 2008?!

Not as easy as that. The titanic isn't supposed to be reskinnable. It's specifically designed so nobody can reskin it, like all the vessels except the P6 and the Selsey I

I can really understand now, why some people get annoyed here. 'I want' isn't going to get you anywhere...if you'd wish for Britannic to be put in the game, you can put your thoughts forward in various topics with titles to the effect of: "What ships would you like to see in Ship Sim Extremes?"..Or you could even make it yourself!

I'm no expert, but Britannic was certainly rather different to Titanic as a hospital ship? Not just the lick of paint that you're talking about?

I'd love to have several ships in Ship Sim...But unfortunately we can't all have what we want. If you really are keen, seriously...try make it yourself...Then you'll see how hard it is.

My classic phrase:  "Why need for another 4-funneled Titanic look-alikes which were nothing than a floating piece of disaster?  There're plenty of other ships that should be included in the first line - such as floating cranes, dredgers, reefers, medium gen.cargo ships, bulkers & container feeders, salvage tugs, proper offshore fleet, oil recovery vessels, more hovercrafts, the long waited hydrofoils, etc."

The above usually puts all Titanic-alikes fans in a unbelievable fury.

Many members seem to think that Ship Simulator should be just a big 3D album of their favorite ships.
They usually haven’t a clue as to the tremendous amount of work involved, even though that has been explained at length on this forum.

Their interests seem to be narrowly confined to the visual aspect of the ships, with little interest in ship handling, navigation, or missions.
 
If they were interested in actually using the ships, they would realize that driving one Olympic class ship would be the same as driving any other; it would add nothing to the game commensurate with the effort and resources required.

The developers try to offer as many different types of vessels as feasible in order to satisfy the interests of those for whom the simulator was conceived.

I doubt that VSTEP received, or sought, permission from a long defunct shipping line. Titanic is either in the public domain, or any rights to her belong to Mother Carey.


I think that the demand to “Captain” more ships shows the interest in appearance over function.

As been said Ship Sim is a game rather than a 3D Photo Gallery.

I would much rather see other types of ships on ShipSim than the sister of Titanic if i am honest and VSTEP have currently got a good choice on SS 2008 and even better choice from what I have seen so far on SS Extreams

Alot of time will go into any one ship to add it onto the game to make sure it is 100% perfect and works well and works on all envoirnments on the game.

I personaly would rather see ShipSim spend more time working on the envoirnments and having more choices of them and working on more features on the current ships than adding sister ships of current ships on the game, but that is my opinion...

But among all hospital ships you chose exactly the Britannic.  So the question "Why do we need another 4-funneled Titanic look-alike in SS?" is still open.
Maybe your choice of Britannic was based on "They can just reskin the Titanic in their lunch time. I don't think it's that hard!", but the question above will be still open.
I'd suggest of getting a floating crane or dredger or medium-sized bulker/tanker/container feeder or VSP escort tug as a mission worthy ship in SS.  The add-on creation guidelines say that the ship should give a diversity in SS fleet, especially when it comes to its propulsion & handling.

So go ahead and buy a Hospital Simulator then...this is a Ship Simulator not a floating hospital of nurses and doctors.

We dont need Britannic either. Even though she was a hospital ship, she was only another Olympic Class ship, which we already have in the game. We do not need another one. I agree with WM, we need a more diverse fleet in the game we dont have enough different types of vessels.

We currently have:

 3 ferries(all different types), 1 cruise ship, 1 ocean liner, 2 Crude Carriers, 4 Cargo vessels, 8 tugs, 3 rescue/port authority vessels, 1 pilot vessel, 1 fishing vessel, 1 classic yacht, 1 sailing yacht, 1 modern yacht (3 yachts), 2 pleasure craft, 1 Heavy lifter, and 1 hovercraft.

We need things like floating cranes, dredgers, inland container/crude/bulk vessels, cable layers, gunboats, missile range vessels, etc, etc...

Yes...i got it, but i don't/didn't have a girlfriend at present (or that) date...but i can still include that in the list, can't i?
