I think there is a good chance that they will, I really hope that they do!

I'm not sure Vstep has the time to model engine rooms etc. Herkules Atlas was made by a user, Vstep has all of the game to do as well. To model an engine room, you have to get the player to the door of the engine room, which is very tricky for larger ships. Plus you have to model the room itself (The H.A's engine room is actually modelled above the vessel, and made invisible when looked at from the boat. That's why you sometimes see the flashing 'exit engine room' buttons in the sky.) then you have to link the two with an interactive button.

Of course, an engine room will be quite a complex model in terms of poly's, and if the ship is already complex, then it will slow things down even more.

So, in short, don't expect an engine room in the Ocean Star or Titanic. Possibly with a smaller vessel like Red Jet 4 or RPA12, but not on anything big.  ;)

What official information do you base this off of?

I know what think means, Matt, but he must have heard something to make him "think" that.

1: Dead topic. Don't post in a topic which has been inactive for 120 days.

2: I highly doubt that the Titanic's engine room will be modelled, the Titanic is too complex already.

The Titanic's modeller has expressed interest in modelling a complete interior to the ship, whether VSTEP allows it in the game or not.

Not saying to expect an engine room in Ship Simulator at any point in the remotely near future, if at all; I'm just saying.

Hi RMSG,

You're on the other fora aswell where such interest was expressed..

Has there been any action on Jason's part since that remark of his, regarding this expansion of the model?

Anything he has revealed yet of his work as such? Is there progress? Would be keen to know.

cheers

I've been watching the TRMA forum regularly, searching for his next update to his model. He tends to release model updates rougly a month before the game's release, so I am on the lookout ;D

I plan on letting you all know as soon as something pops up, with a link to the thread.

So really, there's nothing then? No remarks about it either since that one from years ago? Before he also posted about things to come, iirc..  renders aside...

Ah well.. by this time in the development and testing phase, we lucky few with a kitchen view, would already know about it anyway, I reckon..    ::)

I just.. wouldn't hold my breath... That's all..

This may sound strange but...     when I first got shipsim 2008 I was walking around the RPA 12  and I walked near a door and my view changed to a grey room and there was an engine in it! No joke! ???

First of all, I know this Thread is very old,but since ive got a question about engine rooms in ShipSim 2008 I decided not to start a new Thread for the same topic  ;)
Now the question:
Would it be possible to add the Pushboat's engine room to other ships?
I mean just take the "engine room-files" from the Pushboat and put it in some vessels or for example the "Agile Solution" and link the "in/Exit-action-button" to any door?(would LOVE to have the engine room in that ship  ;D)

thanks  :)

That's quite a good suggestion...just you're a bit late, I doubt they will do anything major like that to SS08 since SSE is now the game that they want to put full effort into.

Back to the original suggest...Wouldn't it be a bit strange going into the agiles engine room(or the herk's) and finding two engines? i'm sure then lot of people would complain since Agile only has 1 engine, there's also the size issue, you wouldn't find an engine that size on the Vermaas for instance.

Basicly...no it won't happen, to much effort and will only cause more complaints from people about why the other ships don't have it.

You're right, that room wouldn't fit all the ships...
Do you think its possible to add the room to different ships unofficial,as a "just for fun" mod?
Would be AWESOME if someone whos able to edit/create ships would do something like that...

Well, that's the problem...VSTEP have a tendancy to dislike people who have a play around with their software and such, the only person that i know of who has had permission was Terry. He use to be a moderator here but dissapered for some reason, he's still about and known as The Ghost of Terry (http://80.95.161.114/shipsim/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=49484).
You could possibly drop him a PM and see what he has to say about it, other than that i have no clue on this sort of thing
