Why developpers don't consider the Right of Way. It's a bit upsetting being hit by another ship when you have the right of way.

if my memory serves me correctly, the regulations for preventing collisions at sea, does not say stand on regardless.  you must use your judgement to decide when it is time to take avoiding action. the oow on the other ship may not have seen you. this could be what the developers had in mind.

the fact probably is that it's not so easy to just make those things, there needs to be a lot of programming and stuff to make, I'm sure they did think of it. Also this is the wrong board to post this in. You could try to use the search function, I think someone has mentioned it a couple of times before and also read the rules and posting guidelines.

The AI can be made to stop, but only if you sail in front of them and slowly decrease your speed...

If the AI is physically able to do so, it will avoid you. But if you dart in front of Latitude, she cannot slam on the brakes.

The behaviour of AI traffic was improved in V1.1 (I think, maybe it was 1.3?) but COLREGS apply, as Minime says. It is your responsibility as the person in charge to evaluate each situation and make allowance for the possible incorrect actions of other vessels.

All missions are do-able, so you may just need to rethink the way in which you do them, Capt.JB.

The same applies to your new sailing boat, Doc T... If motor has to give way to sail, and you happen to be in the way of the latitude in your yacht or similar, then...

That said "he DID have the right of way though" isn't a particularly good epitaph!

Sailing boats under motor are not classed as sailing boats. Almost nothing has to give way to them!

Since your SS model LOOKS like a sailing vessel, perhaps the simulated skipper just won't tell the simulated AI vessels that it is really under power and pretend to be under sail to get the advantage.

BTW once my boat is seaworthy, I'm going to take it to Dover eastern and put this colregs to the test
