Actually it is a fairly controlled manoeuver, the ship is ballasted with a stern trim and run onto the beach at full speed to allow it to be broken up.  Been there, done that, it's not half as spectacular as the video makes it look.

I don't mean the manouver onto the beach, I meant as in the fact they're stood right next to it, and that it ploughs into everything on its way past :doh:

Didn't look overly controlled on that instance! :lol: :D
