Wout's post, was not saying that at all:

Probably the patch will be released tomorrow. This to make sure there are enough mirrors available.

So probably tomorrow :)

Are all the glitches that have been mentioned elsewhere on the forum now sorted?

As has been stated already. Frequently. Vstep is working on the list of bugs (have a look at the list in tech support)and there is every reason to be confident that they are being worked on and that all issues will be resolved.

Whether or not at this specific time they have been already, I can not say. I would have thought they will all be sorted though. In most cases it is now just fine tuning as all/most the real bugs have been sorted with the patch already.

I meant the glitches that people have mentioned about the beta version of the patch.  There seems to be a lot of pressure on VStep to rush this patch out so that people can start sinking ships and editing missions (strangely sinking ships seems to be something that people see as a good thing?).  Personally I would rather wait a few extra weeks for a patch that works 100% than get one tomorrow that is 80% right.

My thoughts also.

I think that VStep did a great thing releasing the beta of the patch so more people could test it. I am surprised that there was still so many bugs but it is a good thing that we (users) can report them so they can be fixed in the patch. I would also rather wait and get a job well done instead of rushing things. If it means that we only get bug fixes and nothing else then I am okay with it. It is after all a patch and not an add-on :)

I hope VSTEP will allow us to beta test other updates for the game in the future since we all can help them to sort out all kinds of bugs. I like the way they did it this time and I hope that they will continue to do this 8)

Greetings,
To the regular members,i'm sure Vstep trust us for that, they realy know that we are a great help.
Thats why they gave us this beta version, because they can't do it on theirselfs.
So they gave us also a part of the responsabilty, which is in my vision,Vstep trust us.

Exactly... How many hundreds or even housands of beta test hours have we managed. It would have taken vstep far too long to complete that many hours. Well done us!

There's a scientific program out there which I forgot the name of but this program runs on computers and calculates scientific problems quicker than any scientist ever could. Something like that should be bought to SS to calculate how many man hours have been put into BETA testing  ;D

Should the beta be un-installed first or is it OK to install over the top?
Does the new patch take care of that?
If anyone wants to install a fresh copy of SS2008 and update that - how do you go about saving your previous scores and stuff? A quick upgrade guide may help many people out here.

Edit: someone beat me to it on one of the other forums...

You can remove everything if you want to. I've done a complete reinstall of everything. You can choose to save your profiles (including scores) when removing the game. It will prompt you.

1000th post!

Thanks but I just noticed there isn't an un-install option for the beta patch, hopefully the un-installer for the main game does a good job... about to try.
