Shoulda filmed the first 3 1/2 hours, but it'd have been too dark to see anything, just everyone falling over a lot :P

I have a couple of weeks temp work with P&O next month in the Irish sea and then it looks very much like i will be off to a cruise ship company after that.

haha, yeah, let me think for a moment or two......

to be honest I have done some temp work in the Irish sea in the past and loved it, but the thoughts of spending the rest of my life flipping a coin to try and figure out which port you are arriving in / leaving doesn't really appeal too much.

Yeah,

How much harder is it to be a engineer on a cruise ship compared to a ferry though?

To be honest the job itself is not that much different, a ferry still has all the same hotel services (aircon , fresh water, sewage, etc.), the only difference is that the expectations of the passengers is higher so if there is a problem with the aircon for instance there is a bit more pressure to fix it.

The other difference as chief engineer is that there are generally more staff to look after which is by far the hardest part of the job, if machinery breaks you can hit it with a hammer, if you hit the staff with a hammer it can lead to problems.  Although I won't be going to the cruise ship as chief engineer initially.

Ahh

But is it harder to look after equipment and stuff on a boat that is at lots of exotic locations, compared to a ferry which will go to the same place, so I assume getting any parts is easier?
