try setting the "affinity" of the process to all 4 cores, just right click on the process-set affinity
When i seen that, i went off to have a look. When I checked mine, it was only ticked to use one core, instead of using both of them (i have core 2 duo). When both were checked, i noticed a difference in my game play, that it was smoother and helped my FPS slightly.
I restarted the game and the affinity setting was still apllied to both cores. I have also had the computer turned off and turn on this morning, and both cores were still activiated.
As I don't like talking about what I'm not sure, I checked what I said. And,
definitely, the manual setting you apply on a processus (like the affinity, or priority) only concern the current processus, and will not affect later instances of the same processus.
A processus is a temporary instance of a binary programm, any setting you apply to a processus only lasts until the processus dies, and won't be applied later, unless you use parameters or 3rd party programms allowing to run a programm with specific settings.
I'm not speculating, I'm talking about
facts.
But if I set afinnity for "questviewer.exe" then surely that affect ss2008 aswell?
As its the same process
Then SS08 wouldn't work!
Setting affinity will only affect the current processus (not the way the binary file called questviewer.exe is launched), and won't affect any later instance of the same programm, unless you manually change it again.
