Well, I got into school and found I have next to no lessons.

So I took the opportunity to catch up with some vitally important (::)) word processing.

Easy? Nah, nothing's easy. The computer's so slow it takes half an hour to start up, and Word 'Not Respond's every time it autosaves.

Doesn't sound good...

Talking of non-responsive, does anyone else have problems when Firefox opens a PDF? Mine does, when it load Firefox near jams completely, slow to move, and when you look at the PDF doc, it jams when you move it and takes ages to actually move up/down/etc...?

Could just be the file size of the .pdf, some can take a while anyway, but shouldn't jam up like that. Have you tried any other browsers?

Hmm, no maybe I should

Pain in the behind, though at least PDs load at all now, before they wouldn;t work in Firefox, and I had to save every PDF file I wanted to look at...

6th form is years 12 and 13. In year 12, you do AS (A-levels), then in year 13, you do A2 (A-levels but the second year)

It's not mandatory, you can choose to go to college, or go into employment. If you do want to get into sixth form, you have to get a required average grade at GCSE. In my school, it was an average of a B. I did an Engineering NVQ out of school as well, and that helped, so I recommend looking for extra things to do to improve your chances. Plus, you get paid for some NVQs  ;)

In sixth form, you get a lot of priviledges (in our school you get to jump the queues at the canteen, ignore the one way system in all the buildings and leave the school site), and you only do four subjects (in my case three, because I do an Engineering Diploma and that counts as two). Some lessons may be taught in other schools, in which case you get free taxis to and from the schools.

Finally, it's the best way of getting to university.

those 1 way systems must be a pain. what happens if you have a class next just the next classroom down?

Well this is only my opinion, but I think that you should try to get as many qualifications under your belt as possible before you look for employment, some employers might wonder why you didn't.

Still, employment is FUN

EDIT: The one way systems operate on the entrances and exits of the building, you go in one end, and come out the other.

What subjects are normally offered in 6th form?

All sorts of stuff, all the GCSE subjects like Maths, Science (although it gets broken down into individual subjects), product design, all that.

Then you have new stuff, like Economics, and in our school you can do Russian and Dutch e.t.c.

Then there's my Engineering Diploma, but since us four and a group up north are the only people doing it with OCR, contents may vary.

I do Maths and Physics as my other two subjects.
